2011 Jk Sport 6spd manual electric problems?

First time Jeep owner -- I just bought a 2011 JK with 6800 miles on it, seemed like a great deal, good condition, warranty, etc. Only had one issue, the PO had installed his own kill switch, and that was loose so it was causing the Jeep to not start when I went to pick it up at the dealership (GM, not a Chrysler dealership since I bought it slightly used). They took that back into the shop and cut out the kill switch, everything has been fine for about 2 weeks...

Until it rained yesterday, and I went to work last night... First I thought I was losing my mind, as I'd see the clock and lights on the radio cut off and back on out of the corner of my eye... But every time I checked it was on.

Then it got worse and I caught it cutting off and staying off. Then the ESC and ABS lights would blink on, chime would sound then it went off. Every few miles. I pull in to work and the CEL/MIL light comes on solid as I park.

I tried the ignition on/acc x 3 but it just said done, no code. So I drive home after work, and it was fine for a bit, (CEL/MIL still on) but then it started acting up, this time it decided to cut out the speedo, and light up the TPMS and oil lights briefly as well. Very Close Encounters...

So I am planning to take it back over to the dealership I got it from(they have a 30 day sales warranty) and if that doesn't work out down the road to the Jeep dealership/service center. Just trying to get an idea of what might be wrong -- I suspect some fairly bad wiring work, faulty ground, etc that may have killed some O2 sensors, or the 02 drivers in the PCM...

Was checking it out today, and just sitting with the parking brake on, engine on, in neutral, it was stalling and dying. Like every 30 seconds it would nearly stall, and then throttle up and then after a few cycles of this, it didn't make it and the engine would die. :(
Checked the codes after this and got P0031,P0037,P0051,P0057 -- All four O2 sensors reporting a low voltage in the heating element circuit as I understand it...

That's not what I normally expect from a car so back for service it goes.
Just wanted to see if anyone has any similar experiences, or ideas, and I will keep you updated as to what happens. I am not thrilled to think I have a Chrysler wiring harness/electronics with deep-seated flakiness. Probably order the FSM so I can go over it with my multimeter...

Other than this and I've never (lazy IT guy) really driven a manual before, I love it. I'm hoping that me stalling the Jeep didn't do this, although that does create enough motion to knock stuff loose if it was going to.

Sounds like you have an electrical gremlin, and they're good at hiding.

Installing home grown kill switches in the JK Canbus system is never a good idea.

Indeed. I was not thrilled when I saw it, and they removed it but they left about 6-8 inches of the wire pair (switch was installed in the dash down and to the left of the steering column. the other end is just sort of stick out to the driver's side of the hood, the PO apparently ran it from the dash straight up and out past the windshield wiper motor and stuff.

That whole arrangement seems like an *excellent* way to introduce water into the instrument cluster, ignition, etc. I didn't really need a drip watering system for my dash internals. Sigh. I suspect this is going to be a not fun fix.

Thta new, even if used, you had it just two weeks.
Take it back to the dealer. What sort of warranty did they give you?

The dealership I got used from gave me 30 days full warranty as they are a GM/Chevy/Acura/Used place -- They said it still has coverage under the original manufacturer warranty although I suspect that will be lessened as a second owner. Still its a 2011 and only got 7080 miles on it.
I will be taking it back to the dealer I got it from, and see from there.

So I took it back to the dealership, they gave me a loaner car, they have one of their family of dealership that is Dodge & Jeep (and a authorized Jeep service center) and they are taking it their to get it checked out under the combined 30 days sales warranty and the factory 3/36k its under. I will probably spring for an extended warranty here shortly as my next purchase. The WildBoar hardtop can wait a few months ;-).

Even reimbursed me for the tow and I'm hoping it all gets sorted out. I still suck at driving stick but I miss my Jeep and my left foot is getting bored ;-)
