90w gear oil in transfer case

Okay, so I've had my YJ for about two months now. I had to take out the transmission to replace the slave cylinder but its all back in now. Question: My transfer case has a crack which I can patch up with JB Weld. Does anyone know what would happen if I put 90w gear oil instead of atf in the transfer case so it would leak slower?

it would be akin to putting 90w in your motor....would you do that?.....it's just not going to circulate thru the system right because of the thickness....

Wait. You're saying you're going to patch the hole so it won't leak, but you want to put the wrong fluid in it so it will leak slower. I'm not following. :s

Go grab a new transfer case from a junkyard, they can't be too expensive, they're 65 bucks here..

Only put the recommended ATF in it.

Make sure you clean both sides of the crack real good before J-B welding it or it will leak again.. Use ATF, ATF,ATF!!!!!
