Dogs & Soft Top Windows - Any Hope??

Hi guys! Just bought my first Jeep last week (I'm in heaven) but I have an issue. I have two giant German Shepperd puppies; one with an intense fear of driving and likes to jump. With my soft top, I fear for the plastic window's safety. I bought a barrier to stop them from jumping the seats but I have yet to see anything for the rest of the car.

Any suggestions?

I have seen what dogs do to real glass. I would not hold out much hope. Better reason to put a net around it and go topless.

Ugh - yeah that's what I figured as well! My old Ford Ranger was ripped apart and that was glass. Thanks!

I hope to get her to that point but she is so hyperactive and nervous, I am not holding out too much hope. My other one loves my new purchase though =) Crossing my fingers that this summer will help.

I agree 100%. I have a 4 door JK and 2 90lb labs and I pretty much live with the Smittybilt C.res system on and they LOVE it.

It's good because they get a lot of air and you don't have to worry about them getting out. Plus I personally think it looks pretty damn cool. I've had at least 10 people in the last 2 weeks ask me where they can get them

I love these I have a couple questions. #1 can you use it with the soft top? #2 does the back of it zip or Velcro so my dog can jump in the back?

How easy is this to put on? And do I need to buy anything else in addition?

I've thought about leaving it on and putting the soft top over it, but I'm afraid it would get damaged. It uses all the tub edges to keep it in place just like the soft top and windows do.

As far as the back goes, Yes it has zippers that run vertically up each side and uses the bar from the retainer bar from the bottom of the soft top window so it hooks in the same spot as back window. With the zippers down the bottom hooked in, the dogs are safe and can't get out.

I'll try and get some pics tonight to show you when I get home from work as I have it on the JK right now

Thanks! Hmmm I'll have to think about it. It's not THAT expensive so maybe I'll try it out and if it gets damaged its $100 gone.

Check out the products at Safari Straps, I got mine to keep my dogs in the Jeep with the top down, but it also keeps them away from the soft top windows when the top is up. Great stuff!!

I see in the pics this one is being used with a soft top but it's $399 instead of $100 and the back doesn't look like it opens which I need cause it'll be easier for my mastiffs to get in the back than the doors.

It's really not that difficult. I was surprised. Once you take it on and off a couple times you'll figure out the quickest way. I can get the soft top off and the C.res on in about 10 minutes tops

That was exactly my thought. I almost cancelled my order when I discovered the safari straps, but to be honest, I'm glad I didn't since getting my dogs in and out is so easy since the back opens up and you have full access to the tailgate

Safari straps is definitely the way to go. You can't use the cheap smittybilts with the top up.

as promised here are some pics of the c.res system

I really like the system for its ease of coming off and on. The safari straps can be used with the soft top where as the smitty's can not. The smitty's appear to be easier to get things in and out with, which is the reason why I got them since my dogs like to ride with me a lot and go out to the farm and it's easier with the zippers and tailgate retainer bar

Since I have half doors coming and plan on purchasing the Safari Straps, the only problem is that though I can use the universal divider for my JKU, and sail and back straps to cover that area, I couldn't locate Safari Straps for the rear side windows above the half doors...

So for me, with half doors, I still have holes in my dog situation.
