Spring Shims

One of my buddies says that his understanding is that the high side is supposed to be facing the back. I thought otherwise. Was he referring to SOA? I just don't want to lower my pinion even more.

I assume you're trying to correct the front end?

Sorry I didn't clarify. But no, the rear end. When we took the axle off, the shims had the high side facing front and my friend thought the spring was put in backwards.

Let me clarify even more... I already had shims on there, probably came installed on them when PO lifted it. I am going to raise it a couple degrees more. And that is why there are shims already on them.`

So you're taking a smaller degree shim out and adding a bigger degree shim?

You would want to put the shim in the way you described it was already installed, the high side toward the front of the Jeep, it will rotate the pinion up

That's what I was saying. But I guess he thought otherwise. I'm getting longer center pins today. It's gonna be a bitch breaking the nuts off this rusty one.

Just cut or grind them off
