The A-Pillars are toast and the top opened up like a sardine can.

I dunno, I was thinking the opposite. Deers DESTROY vehicles, they are very heavy and muscular animals, and having one hit a car doing, say 50, usually results in frame damage. Having one come flying through the air, and hitting the windshield frame at 50, and both parties alive, is impressive in my book. The truck did what it was designed to as far as absorbing the impact, yet the around around the driver and passenger did not collapse too much. Overall, I am pretty impressed with how it held up

Scout 02-01-2008 04:54 PM

Didn’t collapse that much? Hell the whole damn thing caved in. A-Pillars are not crumple zones. They’re rigid and should take an impact. A 40 – 60 pound deer shouldn’t nearly turn a truck into a convertible. And you’re right, they were “lucky”.
