Rubicon Express 3.5 Standard Lift
 
Anyone have this lift?

I'm waiting on my tires, then I will start the install. I just want to know about any suprises with the kit (not the Jeep) or any "tricks of the trade".

This isn't my first lift and definitely not my first time with suspension work. However, it is my first Jeep. ('05 TJ, I6, Sport)

It's pretty straight forward to install since you don't have much to fight with. Good luck. :D

Dont forget a spring compressor (not a coil compressor as it will not work although jeeps have coils).

What about a front track bar? Dont forget you also need shocks to make that kit work.
I dont see it coming with tcase drop kit either as there is 1 more bracket thats needed (not pictured) to drop the 2 to 4wd linkage.

Coil spring compressor works fine... your thinking of a strut spring compressor.
See the 6 pucks that look the same size? Thats the t-case drop. That kit also has you drill relocate the front track bar on the stock axle bracket. And the t-case lever relocation might not be required. :rolleyes:

Drill relocating the Tbar will only cause bump steer and weaken the axle bracket... Will need DPA to eliminate bump steer.

No Tcase linkage leveling bracket will only cause hard shifting after one side of the linkage has been dropped 3/4" while the other one is still at stock level.

Getting a new adj. track bar. I was playing the install in my head with the Jeep on the lift and decided against drilling and f***ing up the bracket. Any preference on brand? Do I need to get an additional relocating bracket?

What the heck is DPA...drop pitman arm?!?!?!

I was told that the stock pitman arm would not need to be changed with a lift under 4 inches. That is from the factory and other jeepers with tj's.

you shouldnt need any kind of spring compressor. Ive installed a half dozen different springs on different jeeps and trucks and i havnt used one yet. with the shocks,sway bar disco'd you should be able to pop it in pretty easily.

If you do need them your ocal auto part store should have them for free rental

Dont be afraid of messing up the bracket. Its not hard to drill a hole lol

People that run JKS seem to like it the most. People that have ran RE and other big tbars say JKS is the best so...

DPA Drop pitman arm... When you drill the stock axle bracket you will have bump steer. Thats the reason why a DPA is needed.

If you just get an adjustable Tbar you will not need to drill a hole nor a DPA. Just install the new Tbar and center it and be good to go.


For the rear, use the bracket they give you. You might have to drill a hole but its nothing hard so...


Rawkon i couldnt get my 4" springs on with out a spring compressor. Simply the brake lines were not long enough.

ooh ok yea all the kits ive done we extended the braklines. If you plan on flexing your jeep out i would recomend grabbing some extended brake lines. DC4wd.com has quoted me awsome prices in the past.

Alright then...

I don't like shortcuts and I hate repairing my mistakes, SOOOOOO an adjustable front track bar is keeping me from intalling the lift.

I don't have any place to flex where I live, so I don't see the need for brake lines at this time. Maybe in the future...

i installed a 3.5" RE standard lift about a year ago.

i did not use a dpa for the front. I used an ARB panhard relocation bracket for the rear.

4 new coils ( I didnt need a spring compressor but it sure makes like easier)
4 ome shocks
2 front bump stops
2 front swaybar extended links which i modified to make them discos

I already had longer brake lines. I took off my rear sway bar all together
I installed a SYE with adustable rear control arms.

I"m yet to fix my front caster so it drives bit funny but nothing that can't be handled easy enough. in fact my wife drives it all the time and she dosnt think it drives bad at all.

flexes great actually. i"m happy with the kit

Instructions in many kits don't mention this. Remember to adjust the shifter linkage for your T-case after doing a T-case drop or it will bind in 4-lo and can wear out the shift fork quickly. If you have the money I would recomend skipping the T-case drop and get a SYE and new CV shaft instead.

I just started my install of the RE 3.5 SuperFlex. Got the wheels off. Pulled a brake line. Discovered Quadratec sent the wrong brake lines. :mad:

I called them up, and they were only taking orders no customer service at this time. :bottom:

Oh well. Guess I'll be doing the brake lines last. Any one else run into this type of problem?
