dry rotted and a broken band.... ok to drive?

I bought my jeep around christmas time and took it to the mechanic for an oil change and an inspection. they said that all 4 tires are dry-rotted and the front passenger tire has a broken band (or maybe he said belt). I'm no mechanic so I'm not real sure what this means but they have plenty of tread left on them. Are they ok to drive on still or do I need to get new tires?

keep in mind this is my daily driver and I have a tight budget.

thanks for the help!

Broken belt isn't a big deal but the dry rotting is ... Especially if the sidewalls are starting to split .. But I've had tires last for years when they were dry rotted and I've had them blow out too so my recommendation is to replace them or keep your speeds down so if they do blow out you don't roll your jeep

IMO I would drive it straight to get tires about 20-30 mph...but I am a cautious old man and don't like to much excitement.

I don't think anyone will tell you to run them since we live in such a litigating society. I have driven tires with broken belts and they tend to wobble and you can probably see the area with a knot or twist. If you don't have money for 4 new ones you can always buy one per month or pick up some good used ones off Craigslist/newspaper add or a large tire shop. I was younger with children at one time a long time ago and remember struggling with these decisions in my life. Just be a creative thinker and you will figure out a way.

thanks for all the advice! Maybe if all the rain ever stops i'll upload some pictures of the dry rotting. I googled 'dry rotted tires' and mine don't look nearly as bad as most of the ones I found online.

Thanks again!
