Many JK owners are soccer moms and gentlemen who are new to the Jeep thing. Therefore, a vast number of opportunities are missed to give or receive a wave.
Don't get me wrong, because there are always quite a handful on some days that respond or even wave first. With this being said, I have created an interesting thread.
Lets not make this about how many we missed. I haven't seen any Jeeps today but lets get a fun thread going.
All I'm trying to do with this thread is spread the love. No idea why it would get locked, I just wanted to give some JK owners a little pride since I've heard a bad rep where I stay.
It will get locked because there is a "sticky" on the subject of the Jeep wave, and people with too much time on their hands will come into your thread and complain about the subject coming up so much. Instead of just ignoring your thread, they will spend their time coming here just to give you a bad time about it, rather than just skipping your thread and letting you have any friendly conversation about Jeeps that you want to have.
That kind of thing is worse in many of the other Jeep forums, but it still happens around here from time to time.

Yep, I just ordered a brand new 2012 JKUR, and I'm totally green to the "Jeep thing," but make no mistake, I know all about throwing out the "wave of respect" to fellow enthusiasts of a vehicle; I owned an STi and this was very common. It was customary to flash the highs or give a wave to oncoming WRXs, STis, or STIs (2008+) or a nod to those passing on the same side road...and don't forget seeing another WRX/STi/STI at a gas station and winding up in half hour conversations. :thumb:
Personally, if I see other Jeepers start waving at each other (which I never see...), I'm sure I'd be inclined to carry the torch, so to speak. I couldn't care less if someone owns a JK, CJ, YJ, ABC, XYZ, TNT, or whatever...
I guess it never occured to anyone that since the introduction of the Unlimited, the Wrangler has just found its way into mainstream America? Just because it's a Wrangler doesn't mean somebody's a Jeep enthusiast; some people just happened to like the Wrangler and chose it as their means of transportation. Anyone see Camry drivers waving to each other? Neither do I.
I'm not saying JK owners aren't enthusiasts, just sayin' there are other demographics purchasing these days.
I am so sorry that I didn't get this thread approved by you prior to posting. Interesting to get a number as to how many JK owners get the Jeep thing and fun to see how many egocentric and opinionated people arguing on here. Many people feel the way I do about this very topic, thank you. I'm not saying you HAVE to agree.
Before the lock, opinions are like assholes. Everybody has one and they all stink.
It's kinda dumb to get worked up over a repetitive thread. Who cares, what's the harm? Isn't that what a forum is for? I tire of the same topics too but just move on to the next. When I first got on I started threads with my interests and was lucky enough to have people add their thoughts to the topic and help me enjoy the forum. Even imped who I thought was an ass at first due to sone short winded posts was in fact very helpful and made me learn a little more about my jeep. We are all at different stages of builds and getting into the culture. Can't people just move on rather than wasting everyone's time by complaining about a thread they don't have to read? Jeeps rock! And those lucky enough to have one should be a little cooler IMO. Jk owners are a mixture of jeepers and convertable suv owners, I show em love but rarely have the wave returned. It's jeeps fault for making the jeep less jeepy to appeal to a wider audience not gonna let it spoil my love for one bad ass ride!

Wave threads get locked because people do not bother to use the search, so at one time WF had about 15 wave threads going.
