Proximity/motion alarm?

Should I install one of these sensors in the Jeep once I put the soft top on? The wife seems to think we need one but my mechanic figures they're annoying and won't stop anyone from breaking in. Thoughts? We live right downtown Toronto.

Best thing is to never leave anything valuable in the jeep and leave it unlocked. You would rather a thief open a door than cut a top. That's my personal opinion for the soft top.

yeah, i agreed with Moscoeb... you should never leave your jeep alone when you are using the soft top..

i live in pickering and even when i live in a nice area i never leave my jeep with the soft top in my drive way during the night... i had to squeezed a few things in my garage to park my Jeep inside...

i know is not easy to live in fear... but if you put extra stuff in your Jeep it might be disappoint it if somebody just go during the night... unzip your window and take FOR FREE all the mods you installed to your Jeep...

never leave your Jeep in underground public parking lots... somebody took one of my friends spear tire last month when we went to watch Supercross at the Rogers Centre...

Soft Top = awesome time..!!! but keep your Jeep in Eye distance... (y)

I have one I picked up at best buy it's a Cobra alarm not a big deal but it is a bit of a deterrent and I don't really leave anything in the jeep anyway

I have the viper with proximity... I've had numerous breakins at my house. They've stopped now but prolly because of the bright led now inside. Just be prepared to have to get it adjusted a few times. It can be a pain

I had the Autostart with proximity installed in mine to deter anyone from jumping in or trying to rip out the 10" speaker box I have locked in with a steel strapping that I welded up. I was totally comfortable leaving it in my driveway, top down all summer. The one time I parked in underground downtown Toronto with my mountain bike on the hitch carrier, I asked the attendant to park in a spot that was in clear view of his booth.
No problems, as long as you leave notihng in sight.
