How to use a High Lift Jack on stock JK?

I did some searching and I can't find where a high lift jack is used with a stock JK Jeep that doesn't have rock rails.

It seems as though if it were placed under the plastic bumpers it would just deform the plastic.

Can a high lift jack only be used with rock rails or aftermarket steel bumpers? We are planning a trip to the NC beach and the requirements are to have an off-road jack and a shovel.

Get a hitch and install a shackle for the rear. Use the hooks on the front bumper with a short chain on the front. The other purpose with the highlift is for an exceptional modified come along. Future purchases should include some rugged bumpers to simplify the use with your jack, but the oem points I mentioned, serve me well.

There are special attachments that you can use on bumpers that have an inward slant to them. Also a canvas strap for the wheel. An off-road base is another good idea. Some links:

Also, you should do some serious research so you don't get messed up using the Hi-Lift, whether for winching, jacking up the Jeep, etc. They can be pretty dangerous. Not preaching, just putting the info out there. :)

Obviously, buying bumpers simply to be able to use a Hi-Lift jack for your trip to the beach would be retarded. :D

If you've got the off-road base (pretty much essential in sand) and the canvas straps for lifting your Jeep by the wheel, you're good to go. :thumb:

But definitely watch the videos and read that article I posted...and pay special attention to safely using the handle. The handle can ruin your day if you're not careful...

Looking at mounting options for the Hi-Lift... is seems to be longer (when assembled) than the width inside the Jeep. I was hoping there might be a way to mount it on the back of the roll bar in the rear but it appears too long in some pictures I'm seeing.

The mounting options at QT seem to be for non-stock JK bumpers and rear gates and the hood mount looks ludicrous.

Is there a recommendation for mounting the jack inside a JK 4-door with the Freedom top ON.

I have the 48" hi lift. Im going to buy the clamps that go on the roll bar. It holds it horizontal.

i lifted mine on the under side of the bumper there was a little metal part that went through the bumper to support the bumper and that lifted my front end up and it didn't bend the bumper.

I lay my 48 diagonaly on the floor in the very back and wrap it in a towel before bungee cordn the beast down to the rear seat fixtures. Works well.

In a 4-door, if you have a 48" Hi-Lift, it fits perfectly under the rear seats, like this:

I've got mine in a soft case under there...only drawback is the seats won't fold all the way down, but if I need to do that I just slide the Hi-Lift out and lay it on the floor.

Don't know if it would work in a 2-door or not.

I just put mine on the little "shelf" behind the roll bar and ratchet strapped it in there. It's the 48". I was doing some measuring though, and centre to centre the bolts for mounting the hard top are 60". I'm wondering if you could get a longer bolt to go through those wholes and clamp the larger jack there. It would make a good shelf for the bread on the way home from Costco.
