Becoming disillusioned; where are y'all?

We got a really rough '89 YJ last year and during a trip to a local parts store, while in the Jeep, another Jeep pulled up for a part too. He was headed to a Jeep get-together and asked if we'd like to join him. Not yet trusting the reliability of our Jeep, I said thank you but maybe next time. If I had known that finding a local Jeeper again was so rare, I would've risked requiring a trailer to return home.

As most of you have already figured out, Jeeps are a blast to ride in! So...we got a '01 TJ a couple of months later. It had/has a few issues and I became a very frequent visitor to Jeep Wrangler Forum - Jeep Wrangler Owners Community. I found this forum to be extremely helpful to me and upgraded to "Supporting Member".

Now to my problem... We live in Yukon, and there are many Wranglers driving around here. (Yes, I try to wave at every one I see. Not that unusual for me...considering I'm a two-wheeler, too!) I've attempted contact with fellow Jeepers thru private messages on this forum and by making a plea for assistance on another. I've received no response from anyone. I'm simply seeking others (nearby) to occasionally hang out with and learn more about Jeeping from. And if I'm real fortunate, they'd be able to assist me in some troubleshooting that's driving me nuts! I'm not afraid to turn a wrench and have not been asking for someone to "take care" of our Jeeps, just help me troubleshoot and make better informed choices.

I'm not against getting involved with a Jeep Club. I find it hard to believe, I must join a specific group to finally meet a local Jeep Nut. I'll most likely end up joining a club eventually, I just want to find the club for me. Coming from my experience with motorcycle clubs and finally getting "Patched" myself, I'm not as willing to join first and ask questions later. I cut off my patch and doing so, and still will get an unfriendly look from people I once called "Brother". That's some real BS, considering why I decided to leave. I met a Jeeper, in Tulsa who is very friendly and more than willing to introduce me to Jeeps but....Tulsa is not all that close to Yukon.

So...if you live in or near Yukon or know someone who may be interested in helping a guy get a Jeep off the blacktop....PLEASE, contact me?!?! Otherwise, I'm going to have to was the H-D Ultra....if you ever washed and wiped down that much chrome, then you understand this plea. lol

Thanks for reading,
John

They like to get together about once a week in a couple people's garage and do teardown/maintenance. About 50% work and 50% hang out and have a good time. I think they did Ball Joints last week. Great group of people.
