Wharton is fun, it might be a bit muddy this weekend with all the rain we had earlier this week. The simplest way to enter is Carranza road which is off rt206. Go down far enough and you'll hit a dirt road with plenty of side trails. This is a good starting point because it can become a landmark because it can get confusing out there. Have fun and if you are looking for another to join you I might be available Sunday.

Which part of Wharton do you usually run, Carranza or more near Atsion? Im thinking about starting on Carranza then taking the first dirt road on the right (before Carranza turns to dirt) which will lead out to Chatsworth.

My buddy is who usually navigates for me He lives in Waretown so he knows the trails by site and slang terms the locals call them. He doesn't know where those roads are but well be at the 539 pit and the forked river mountain. If you know where that is. I'm not to sure either. That's just what he told me j

That's my whole point, a few hrs and this is all I hv. But then again, there's a lot of posers out there who ride around with mud on their rig 24/7 trying to prove a point. I'm sure you understand...

I might be heading out Saturday weather pending. Few questions:

I have a couple of buddies coming with stock jeeps, think they'll be okay?

Whats the closest entrance if i'm coming from the Vineland-Hammonton area (up 54, to 206)

Some of us want to take the trails to apple pie hill, where should I go? Atsion, Batsto? Not familiar with the area..

srad600 05-01-2012 11:36 AM

I mean you can get there from either but I guess atsion is closer.

I'm going out Sunday after noon with 2 friends. Stock jeeps are fine for Wharton there is go arounds for the deeper stuff usually. Pick your lines well that's all. I usually spend all day in 2wd if I'm careful unless I wanna show my ass....on the words of my wife.

I think I might try it Sunday also . Never been there .5/6/12

It will be me, a stock Ram 1500, a lifted cherokee on 33s, a lifted k5 blazer on 33s and our wives.

Is it a bad idea to go to Wharton tomorrow after all this rain? I just have a 2012 JK with leveling kit and 33's.

Will I be alright?
