a buddy wants 900 for theses tires and rims so i was curious if they will even fit my 06 rubicon unlimited

EDIT: as long as you dont plan on not hitting any bumps or turning faster then 3 MPH.... you need a lift..

your stock tires are 30" tall. 35" require A LOT of work in order to run them. Lift upgraded brakes upgraded steering box and tie rod

Id say you can run them based on your pics. Your current tire is 30" and a 35" tire normally measures 33" unless its a swamper.

What kind of lift? If you are talking new stock springs, the Rubicon is the same height as every other TJ. You need around 4" of lift for 35's

it being a rubi only gives you the advantage of not having to do an SYE i believe (don't quote me). But it's still a ton of money and PITA to lift and get 35's under there correctly. I think your axle is okay to but you must change the gearing for sure

Throw on a 4" lift and upgrade your steering and regear...run the 35's

255mmX70%= 178.5X2=357mm
357mm=14.055 inches
14.055, round up 14.1, +17 inches= 31.1 inches.
So, 31.1, actually. Or, 31.055

OK. If the tire really is 255mm wide, and the aspect ratio really is 70%, the actual math would be more accurate. Unless there is an inch lost in the bead area.

Kinda splitting hairs at this point I reckon; either way the 35's won't fit on the OP's Jeep as it sits.

See I disagree, look at the distance from the top of the tire to the bottom of the flare. Looks to be about 5.5-6 inches. Given that the tire will measure 33 or less we can agree that is only 1.5 inches taken off the top when mounted, leaving 4 inches of clearance. I have a stock 02 in my shop right now with 30x9.50s on it that has no where near that much room.

The shock look to be either rancho or skyjacker, there's a possibility he has a budget boost, but I'm not feeling he has enough room to effectively clear that much tire. I do agree with ibuildembig, it doesn't appear stock but not unstock enough.

actually, the tires are 34.5" according to Yokohama, not 33 as you claim.

And what's most disturbing about your claim is that when common convention states you need a certain amount of lift to fit a certain tire, thats because somebody actually tested that combination with a tire that was advertised as 35"...and guess what, that automatically factors in the "true" diameter.

Furthermore, the distance from his fender to the tire in the picture at ride height is irrelevant. What matters is what the distance between the steel of the fender and the tire is at full bump and full flex, based on the bumpstop extensions.

The common minimum for 35s on a TJ is 4" of lift with a 1.25" BL and proper bumpstop extensions. Now before somebody gets there panties in a wad about LCG builds....thats "general" assumptions of stock fenders & proper bumpstop extensions....sure you do all sorts of other fancy stuff....but based on the OP's little 2" lift or whatever is on there...no, 35s ain't gonna just bolt up and go.

OP - read this. Theres more to 35s than just slapping them on and hoping for the best.

I say put them on there and prove me right, you can run um :) Its not going to cost a thing to put them on and see is it?

The fact that you say its all about full flex is a bunch of crap. Not everyone wants a crawler man. In fact, 97 percent of the people on this forum are not hardcore anyway. If he wants to do light trail riding and drive it, the distance between the flair and the top of the tire is all he needs to consider.

Not true. My KM2"s are 32.8" and their 33's

Actually I didn't say anything about building a rock crawler. I'm just talking about good suspension design/building practices.

31s willl fit stock and work well with ~2" of lift. "All the other additional upgrades" is a bit of a loaded statement...so keep in mind any time you do a lift you need to consider what components also need changed. For example, larger tires need brake upgrades and steering upgrades. A lift, longer shocks and larger tires need bumpstop extensions to prevent suspension interference issues. At some point in the lifting process you may also need longer brake lines, longer sway bar links, control arms, adjustable track bars, track bar brackets, even welding/modification of some mounts. If you want to avoid additional modifications, just keep what you have now....or provide us with some more detailed information and photos on what lift/suspension you have now, and we can guide you further.
