Planning to use Rust-O-Leum Bedliner on Grill

When we purchased our 2000 TJ a few months ago, the PO had hit a deer with it and the grill was dented in and rusting badly, needs replaced. He had already purchased a replacement from a salvage yard, with new headlights and rings and everything. The grill is white, our Jeep is Desert Sand. Instead of paying to have it painted to match, i plan on just spraying the bedliner on it, because i think the black against the Desert Sand will actually look pretty good. I just did the bedliner on the fender flares and they look really good. I didn't have to do anything to them except wipe down with alcohol. On the grill, would the same thing apply, just degrease, clean and wipe down with alcohol? Or on a painted surface such as this, would it be ideal to scuff it a little bit for the bedliner to adhere better? Thanks for the advice.

On my JK I degreased and sanded off the clear coat, washed and degreased again, then sprayed with Rustoleum bedliner. I love it.

Here it is (I also did bedliner on the windshield hinge plate covers):

yea you're going to want to sand it. some. at least through the clear cut and scuff the color a little. that will lead to the best adhesion. i always overprep though. i wouldnt do anything less than scuffing with scotchbrite or steel wool a the minimum

That's a sharp looking JK. I really like the contrasting grille. :thumb:

Thanks. It does have a few more battle scars (redneck pinstriping) and a few dents since I took that pic. But, that's what we have Jeeps for, right? :whistling:
