Picking up a TJ, now what?

So after what seems like an eternity of searching, I finally found the TJ I've been searching for. It's a Chili Pepper Red '99 Sport, I6 5-speed with around 114k on the odometer. I could barely sleep last night I was so excited. I'm curious as to what you guys would suggest doing maintenance wise right off the bat. I was thinking spark plugs, oil change, air filter, front and rear differential fluid and a brake check just to be safe. Anything else I'm missing that would be helpful? The guy who I'm buying it from has taken very good care of the Jeep, but I'm thinking I want to make sure I'm starting out with a clean slate... Thoughts/suggestions?

I only have one picture and its the one from the ad. The new title is in the mail (the original owner misplaced it) so its going to be 5 or so business days before she's legally mine, I'll take more photos then.

The beer was a given by the way...

Lookin good.

After you've shotgunned the 6pack, grab the BFH and go to work on the milk jugs. I think it makes the stock bumpers look a lot better when the jugs aren't on there.

Yea, that was going to be my first "mod". I'm also going to replace the blower motor resistor seeing as the fan only works on high right now. I cannot wait to get going on this stuff.

Looks like a good starter kit. Milk Jugs gotta go! Enjoy your new big can of worms!

Check for stuff like this! I just bought another TJ. This one is a 97 SE (also its Canadian) and while I was doing some inspections on it. I found this.

First and foremost - WELCOME, and that's a great looking rig!! :wavey:

Secondly - get ready to drain your savings account Just Empty Every Pocket!! They're like a drug - you can never do enough (to it)

Keep up updated on all the cool things you're planning to do and or are doing to it!

Again, welcome!

I just purchased the same 99 Wrangler 5 speed 4.0L in the same color.

I also have the fan issue, that it only works on high, how do I fix that?

I have the same problem. There is a resistor under the glovebox, next to the blower that is bad. Needs to be replaced. :thumb:
