Here are some pics of my Krylon camo paint job. Flairs/tub/bumpers/roll bar coated in Herculiner. It took 4 cans of primer, 4 cans camo tan, 2 cans camo brown, one black one white.

Sweet!...That's called "Chocolate chip camo" ,,,Early 90's dessert storm camo with the white/black splotches 3-D shadow effect :thumb:

Thanks for the info, I had just seen the pattern and liked it. Far cry better than the turquoise. It's a whole new machine.

Is that a reservoir tank of some type or a tranny cooler in front of your grill?

RedBones 05-06-2012 10:37 PM

Looks good.
:-)

Thanks all for the feedback.

looks better than 90% of the camo jobs you see around, seems like an odd placement for that reservoir to me, but whatever works i guess lol

YJChris 06-11-2012 02:21 PM

I'm a couple weeks late, but this is awesome.

flatbadge 06-29-2012 08:31 AM

Sweet... I want camo..maybe I'll go that route vs. paying an auto shop. What prep work did you do?

sevenservices 06-29-2012 12:00 PM

good job man, looks sharp. I can tell you did enough coats as well. Its not all thin looking...

Has anyone done a camo vinyl wrap to their TJ? like this? Just wondering how it holds up?

What did you use for primer?? I'm doing an olive drab job to mine for a military effect and I'm looking for primer ideas

my 1st thought was an LSD flashback:rofl:

BLK00TJ 06-29-2012 09:21 PM

There was a TJ for sale at the dealership down the street from me that was in the Realtree pattern that looked pretty cool. It sat there for about 2 months I guess before someone bought it. I'm considering olive drab rattlecan after the mechanical stuff is done.

This my Krylon Khaki paintjob.

I work with a guy who had an older Toyota with a vinyl camo wrap. It last about a year and a half before it started to noticeably fade. The greens and tans got hilariously brighter, but we're in the desert...with alot of sun. I would imagine it would last a little longer in Oregon.

Blacksurt 07-01-2012 11:16 AM

I wet sanded the entire Jeep, masked it off then put 2 coats of rustoleum
auto primer.

I have seen quite a few wrap jobs here in SoCal. I have yet so see one that was perfect and they don't hold up well in the sun. My buddy does it all the time but its considered temporary and protects paint from rock chips. He has done one camo job....
