May 19th local Santa Barbara Day run.

I am setting up a local run above Santa Barbara. I would like to say start in Oxnard @ 0800 go over Santa Barbara with a coffee /meet and greet on the trail. Then a BBQ near the end.

Not familiar with trails up there, can you give me an idea of where and what to expect? I will more than likely join as this is local and would be a new learning experience or me.

Iwanna 05-06-2012 08:40 PM

The route I am looking at looks like an easy route. Hoping that some of the more seasoned peopel chime in an suggests some trails that are medium in difficulty. Objective is wheeling and then BBQ.

Route is the Santa Ynez Peak Route. Basically out 101 to 154 to Kinevan Road then to Camino Cielo Road. We will pass the Winchester Gun club (it can be a little rough in this area ). We might be able to see Lake Cachuma (N) and the Coast Line (S). At the end we will pass the Reagan Ranch!

Looks top be a fun easy day. This is from the Southern Guide to California backroads & 4-wheel drive Trails (Charles A. Wells)

What time shall we start? I am thinking 0800 leave Ventura. CB channel 4

I H8RDS 05-06-2012 08:44 PM

Rose Valley area? I've been to the Hot springs up there...it's basically a dirt road. You probably won't even need to put it in 4 wheel drive.

Xjman1 05-06-2012 09:03 PM

That is what I thought as well. I consider Rose Valley as above Ojai/Ventura so not sure what area we may be looking at here. Are we talking up the 33 which would place us in Rose Valley area and BC109 area a little further or up near Lake Cachuma of which I have never heard of or wheeled any trails back there.

I H8RDS 05-06-2012 09:33 PM

Ya, the hot springs are sort of behind Montecito area..its all really easy dirt roads..but a nice drive..

Iwanna 05-06-2012 09:42 PM

I did not see Montecito on this route. I think that is out 33.

I H8RDS 05-06-2012 09:49 PM

What you have out in our local area that direction is Rose Valley, Santa Ynez Peak, and Aqua Caliente Springs..which is just north of Santa Barbara..

Iwanna 05-07-2012 09:31 PM

I H8RDS Any suggestions to the route I am looking at. I would like to put it in 4x at some point. Just out to meet good people and have a good time seeing the local area.

Labor day week-end is going to be a run to Big Bear.

There's nothing really out here requiring LO. Bummer I know. Itd still be fun to tool around though..maybe do some shooting or something

We're doing Miller for the holiday :D

I H8RDS 05-07-2012 10:00 PM

Sorry! I'll be with friends wheeling Calico. Told Skylar I'd go weeks ago. His dad is coming into town..he wanted to show him some good stuff..;)

Iwanna 05-07-2012 10:21 PM

This is the route I have laid out. Another option is to head North for Solvang!

Option 1
Carrow's Family Restaurant, 2401 E Harbor Blvd, Ventura, CA 93001 to CA-1 S/US-101 S - Google Maps

Option 2:

Xjman1 05-07-2012 11:49 PM

I like option 2. Solvang is always a nice stop.

metrochica33 05-08-2012 12:06 AM

If I wasn't gonna be out of town on that weekend I would of loved to join. I live in Santa Paula and have been wanting to meet other local jeepers!

Iwanna 05-08-2012 08:24 PM

And Solvang it is.

Next time MetroChica33. BTW XJman1 and I are throwing around the idea of a local get together on a monthly basis to just BS and dream up new trips. Thoughts

Iwanna 05-08-2012 10:08 PM

Okay so wrangler243 is aka mavrick243 & Jessica will keep company

metrochica33 05-08-2012 10:24 PM

Iwanna,
That would be awesome! Keep me posted on that idea, I'd like to get together regularly. Its not often I get to put the jeep in 4 wheel drive.

Iwanna 05-09-2012 02:11 PM

andiesel 05-16-2012 08:00 PM

Count me in! I'll need to meet in SB...can we set a way point close to the 154?

Xjman1 05-16-2012 09:00 PM

PM me your number and I can call you when we are in SB. Are you close to the 154? I believe there is a Mc D's right there we can swing by to meet up, can you confirm that?

Xjman1 05-16-2012 10:13 PM

Let's talk about the monthly M&G Saturday. See what day and locations would work for best.

XMRacer 05-17-2012 01:29 AM

Sorry out... Wanna try this trail supposed to be beautiful, but can't get out of the house till 10ish

Mavrick243 05-17-2012 03:09 AM

im out too, not gonna be off work till 4

Xjman1 05-17-2012 12:17 PM

Bummer. Maybe we need to rethink AJ's and bring the BBQ here so you two can at least join us for that or change departure time. I am open to ideas and suggestions, however this is Dan's run so he gets final say. I just like the opportunity to meet some local Jeepers!

andiesel 05-17-2012 02:16 PM

laaaame! well, I'd like to do some trails this summer in SB so stay posted.
