I took my buddy's YJ into shop today to finish up the body lift. Three of the original bolts had snapped while we were trying to get the body off the frame and I needed to get it into shop to use the fun stuff (ie torch, welder, cutoff wheel, grinder, and air chisel) to remove what was left of the 3 remaining bolts. I was amazed at how the ride changed on the way back. Going to school with 8 of the 11 mounts in place had a somewhat rough ride but it was surprisingly comfortable. With all 11 mounts in place though it became quite stiff.
That is not the main point of my post though. The main point is the heat. I expected that a vehicle with thin carpeting, no floor plugs, no sound deadening and being able to see the outside through large gaps (ie where the soft top windows meet the half doors, etc) would have terrible heat....
I was horribly wrong. I was practically roasting inside while it snows outside. And it got me thinking (which is usually not a good thing) what would happen if the Jeep was fully insulated and had good door gaps and such.
I love my Fairlane, but I really want a Jeep now.

My TJ with good carpet and a soft-top I have to turn the heat down about halfway or I'll bake.

yeah once i get up to temp i turn it on just defrost other wise either my face will feel really dry from the ehat pointed right at ti, or my feet will sweat and then freeze later on, i still find it takes about 10 minutes to warm up whihc isnt bad when its 30 but on the days when its 0 out its REALLLYY cold for those ten minutes

yeah it's funny how people ask me "don't you get cold in a jeep?" and i say no and tell them how strong the heater is and they just look at me like i'm trying to kid myself into thinking i'm warm....

Dude, you think a YJ is hot? Get in a TJ (1997-2006) with a hard top and full hard doors.
I cant leave my heat on for more than 10 mins without sweating.
