Steering centering and post lift questions
 
Finished my 2.5 Install last night, and centered the steering with the procal, but the wheel seems a little off still. Is that an issue?

Also I match marked all the bolts and all looks well after a 15-20 mile test drive. Anything else I need tone aware of or watch out for now that the lift is complete?

Steering shouldn't be off. But sometimes the Procal has a hiccup. Try it again, and if it doesn't change anything do the steering wheel adjust by eye.

As for post-lift, check torque after 200 miles or so. If you did the PP bolt replacement at the same time as the lift, and you used lock nuts to proper torque, you should be good. Still, I'd check em. But I'm anal that way. :)

Feels like you're driving a semi, doesn't it.

Just in case u haven't already make sure you get an alignment!.

I re-used the stock ones except for the front control arms thats bolts get replaced with the AEV geometry correction bracket. I'll get around to the PP kit later on. Didn't order one in time.

Ride is actually pretty close to stock. A little firmer, but not all at the same time. Hard to describe.

I'll be getting my wheels and tires this weekend. I'll just have the Dealer do it. My butt isn't getting under there anytime soon. Install took me 10 hrs or so, and kicked the crap outta me. I'm way to fat to be crawling around for that long... :rofl:

1. If they're coming from DTD, they'll be mounted and balanced...all you gotta do is take off the old, sad, weasel tires and bolt on the new. Gravy.

2. Buy a creeper. Mine has a headrest that makes working on my rig, well...gravy. :)

I wish DTD, but I got them from the local AEV dealer to get the credit for those sad old weasel tires :thumb:

That seems like it'd be a really smart idea, and I have no clue why I've never thought of it.....

Unless it drives like you dreamed about it, you should probably have your toe and caster checked.

Not trying to ask a dumb question, but what good is having it checked? The caster is fixed, and toe shouldn't change from the lift or 33s.

Nothing should really change.
Caster should be ok with the brackets and Toe should not change like the previous Tj used to with the Y link steering. Our Jk is set up different.
For assurance do it but, if the jeep drives great, don't bother IMO

The toe does change after putting on the lift. It causes a shortening in the steering connections that cause the toe issues. You definitely have to have an alignment after and suspension mods.

i answered your steering wheel question in your other thread....the procal doesn't know where your tires are...just the steering wheel. If the tires are not straight..like they were...the procal will center the wheel to that tire position...then when you drive the tires go straight and the steering wheel follows. The tires MUST be straight when centering the steering wheel with the procal to get it perfect....try again..and again..and agian until its on the money.

We have a knuckle to knuckle Tie rod. Should not change much or at all.

Ya know it's only a few degrees off, I'll have the tech do it on Saturday with an alignment to be safe. Cheap insurance and peace of mind.

New question... How long does it generally take for the procal to set the TPMS threshold? It's been going about 5 mins now

Your alignment didn't change. On your Wrangler the caster and camber are not even adjustable. You used the AEV drop brackets so you wouldn't need caster modification which is only possible with adjustable lower control arms or a cam bolt kit installed on the arms/axle which you avoided by using the drop brackets. Center your steering wheel with a wrench adjusting the sleeve on the drag link and check your toe with a tape measure if you are unsure it is perfect but you did nothing to change it.
