xfer case oil pump question
Installed my SYE yesterday, and had both a page off Stu's and the Teraflex instructions to go by. Everything went well and it sure is a lot smoother now. My question is this: When I took everything apart, my oil tube going into the pump did NOT have an o-ring on it. The tube had a metal collar/flare type deal about 1/2" down from the end, and then the inside of the pump had a machined mating surface for it to sit on. Is this normal for an 05 to not have the o-ring? I put a small bead of ultra-black around the flare on the tube for good measure before I seated it back in, and it was a good snug fit. Anyone else find they had no o-ring? Is there any way to check to see that it's working right?

After some thinking about the purpose of the pump, I pulled the speedo gear back out and it was covered w/ fresh fluid, so fluid is getting pumped into the rear housing so it must be working.

I just did the advanced adapters sye kit today - I have an 05 tj. No o-ring on mine either. I didn't even put silicon around it - just made sure it was in the oil pump hole when reinstalling the pump. I hope I don't burn the transfer case up. After my initial test drive (goodbye vibs!) I got under there and felt all around. The transfer case was hot, but I could hold my hand on it, so I think I'm ok.

And now that I think about it, the oil pickup tube is below transfer case fill plug. So the pump would work anyway - just wouldn't recirc the oil as efficiently.
