What Kind of Roof Rack is This?

http://my.project-jk.com/data/500/The_Roof_Rack.jpg
I asked on an Australian forum but nobody seemed to know.
Anyone here know what it is and if it might be available. I reckon it looks damn SWEET!

My german isnt so gut as mine kinder yahrs, however, it appears to be an expedition Jeep that belongs to one of the owners of CT-Autohaus Haese, you could try sending them an email, Im betting it was a custom rack made and installed there. The Jeep is one they show, not a sale item. They did a lot of 'mods' to it, whats interesting is the personalized plate that says CJ 8 :)

more pics of the Jeep

Ive seen a similar rack in the newest quadratec mag partner.

JIMBOX 05-16-2012 01:04 PM

:D It's similar to my rack, thats sold by MBRP/Quad. as an "Off Camber" JK/JKU Rack-

But mine comes off with and assists removal of the hardtop and that one doesn't look to conducive to top removal-

The rack in the pics bolts to tub, not the top, its still usable with the top off, the rack on the yellow JK is almost completely unlike the rack the OP is asking about, look also at the front mounts.

I have to say...I like 'em BOTH!
Either one would compliment my Ace rails very nicely I think.

The top one is way permanent installing into the body like that, but also looks extremely beefy and able to take some cargo and whacks from branches as well as being independent of what top is being used.
EDIT
Nope it looks like it hangs on the sides and could be removable. Wow. Interesting.
END EDIT

The Off Camber rack is my current favorite based on the design and yeah...how it looks. :)

It might take a while for me to commit to any rack because I like how having a lower profile lets me get through the trees better when the trails get tight.

JIMBOX 05-16-2012 06:11 PM

:D Heh Heh, yeah I'm pretty spoiled with mine, but it looks to me like the first rack has to be removed to take the top off--or slid very carefully straight out the back--

I've got about 78" clearance to my rack pads

bummer - I was looking at getting something like this, but I have to park downtown too often (my JKU is my DD) and 6'6" would mean almost no places I could fit.

Thanks for the replys guys, but I think I found my answer:
My.Project-JK.com - The_Roof_Rack - Powered by PhotoPost
"Custom one of a kind roof rack made in Germany."
Oh well :,-(

In other news I came across an interesting build thread of someone making a somewhat similar rack: Heavy Duty Roofrack
http://www.xxxpedition.com/XXX-Proje...k/IMG_2471.JPG

And you're right, it does sit directly "on the tub".
http://www.xxxpedition.com/XXX-Proje...k/IMG_3703.JPG
http://www.xxxpedition.com/XXX-Proje...k/IMG_3702.JPG

When all said and done this too was a very fine looking rack!
From what I could gather from the build-blog he and his mate had access to a workshop and knocked up that rack in one day.

Not a bad day's work if I dare say so!

I do also very much like the MBRP Racks but I can't find anywhere in Australia that sell then, and you looking at something in the order of $800 to get one shipped! Also I'm most disappointed about the change in design. I know it's only cosmetic but those older style racks (like the one you have JIMBOX) just looked fantastic. I'm most disappointed they changed it.

JIMBOX 05-17-2012 08:15 AM

:D Yeah, I guess thats part of the business evolution-

Mine is one of the Prototypes made in 2008 and just about the first on the West coast----from Canada, MBRP.inc

I can't help but wonder how do you install/uninstall the rack and the hard top?
