New noob lookn for some helpn

Hey yall im new to this forum, and im glad i found it. Im selln my toyota 4runner for a jeep. Im gettn maybe $10,000 or $11,000 for it. Im lookn at 2 jeeps and this is what i need yalls help on. There is a 04 rocky mountain edition, l6 4.0L, 5 speed manual that has 90,000 miles for $9995. Ive been readin that it definitly has the dana 44 which is good. It is also about 60 miles away. The other jeep is a 2001, sport utility, 4.0L l6, and i think a 5 speed im not sure, but it is a manual. It has 32,000 miles and comes with a winch and hitch for $10,950. It is 244 miles away. i asked the guy if it has a dana 44 and he said he's not a techical guy, and he'll check this weekend, and i sent him info about about the different dana's.

The big thing that seperates the 2 for me is the first jeep has the dana 44 for sure and the other is a maybe. But the other one has 32,000 miles and a maybe a dana 44.
I will be offroading with this jeep with no doubt about it, and lookn to get a 6 inch lift for it.

Thanks yall

Wow, some good questions. Personally, I'd go for the '04, sounds like you'll know more about what you are getting.

But as my signature line states, that's just my opinion.

By the way . . .

Rocky! Its got higher miles but the other is really low for that year so kinda fishy if you ask me. Plus the 6 speed is nice to have.

Have an '04 with I6 5spd Dana 44 and 155K miles no issues except normal wear items.

IMO I would get the '04.....miles on the I6 are not that big of a deal. If a vehicle sits a lot seals dry out and they are more prone to leak later IMO.........

I had a 97, which was the first year the TJ came out. Ran strong. But, as far as which to get between the 04 & 01.. I'd get the 04. Going big for a 6" lift is a must have for the D44... Good choice getting rid of that Toyota and welcome to the forum.

BTW, don't be discouraged about the 01 with low miles. Does sound fishy, but I also had an 07, with 20,000 miles until last year. I didn't drive it much cause I only used it for offroad purposes. But still, I would look into that 04..

There is an eight year difference there. A 11 year old vehicle with a bout 3000 miles a year. The average is 15000. It could be a great vehicle but in my experience low miles on older vehicles can be bad. Plus the 04 is closer :whistling:

Alright im thinkn about the rme, but what about a rubicon with over 100,000 miles?

Alright im thinkn about the rme, but what about a rubicon with over 100,000 miles? It just depends on the condition i guess?
