Welcome

Welcome... a few weeks late. I've heard a bunch of people recommend this group: KMA Off Road Forums - Powered by vBulletin I've never been out with them though. Nice Jeep by the way.

What part of VB are you in? I'm by Town Center.

darrelltj 06-12-2012 04:05 AM

Thanks guys.. I'm near the farmers market...
Looking forward to meeting some of the locals

Hey I'm a fellow Jeeper from Chicago out here working in Yorktown. What's up with you people in VA? Everybody drives a jeep!! It's crazy! Never seen so many jeeps!! Well I'll be keeping an eye on this thread and maybe if there's any meets within the next few weeks or so ya might get an out of towner! (just wont have my jeep) :(

bobbiejowoo 06-26-2012 08:22 AM

I'm pretty delayed on this one BUT!

There's a group of us that are working on starting up a new club in virginia beach, if you're interested. :)

darrelltj 07-06-2012 10:06 PM

Yew... drop me a line.. let me know how to reach you guys.

spritzer3p 07-07-2012 05:33 PM

Welcome, I think i seen that for sale a while back, it looks really good! I'm going up near Sherando lake tomorrow, taking the JK offroad for the first time finally!

bigcountry0711 07-11-2012 10:50 AM

Might be moving to that area as the wifey is from there. Is there any trail reports out or something on the net. I am in Wyoming but I go to the mountains and play up there with you jeep. So I looking for rocks and mud but mostly rocks to play on and some nice scenic drives.

bigcountry0711 07-12-2012 02:25 PM

Is there any good places to climb rocks near there?

Loganallday 07-25-2012 01:44 PM

I have found about 4 spots but they are all on government property around Oceana. They all start from a main road and if you get on it and off it without being caught, I think you should be fine.

spritzer3p 07-26-2012 05:52 PM

I see jeeps emerging from the woods around Oceana all the time, never ventured back there myself.

That's how I feel. I see them a lot and I don't want to venture out alone for the first time though.

Noooooooooo

Folks in todays Political Environment, I'd avoid ANY Govt property, w/all care, especially, Military property!

Get caught and they WILL make an example of you:banghead:

HarleyDad09 07-27-2012 06:44 PM

I am a new Jeeper in VA Beach as well! As far as the Gov Property thing, I used to be stationed right behind NAS Oceana (The place with the big Golf Ball) and there was a Navy person that got caught Off Roading on the Navy Property and got the book thrown at them!

HarleyDad09 07-27-2012 06:45 PM

But to the original thread, I am interested in some basic offroading..mainly mudding to start. I have 0 off road experience. I know there is a lot of land in Va Beach/Pungo area, but it is all private!

DeeJayy 08-12-2012 10:03 AM

How's it going man, I just got stationed in Norfolk so I'm new to the area. Would love to know what's around here.

Kevinm2467 08-12-2012 10:14 AM

Good luck finding something local and legal around here. Plenty of illegal trails, but I'm not cool with that. Everything is a 3 hr drive or head down to corolla north Carolina and hit the beach sand. We all need to throw a bunch of money together and buy some land and make it only for jeeps to ride on :). If I hit the lottery you better believe it will happen :)

I know what you mean, Delaware is the same way. I wish some people would open it up but what can ya do. What all do you have to do to drive on the beach? Any permits or tags or anything?

No tags or permits for corolla now. But you have to pay for a permit in the obx now.
