Lift on a 2008 JK

Wondering if anyone can help, I want to lift my Jeep. In the Albany area of NY, not really anything around that specializes in Jeeps. Im wondering what kit do i need to order for a 2008 jk, also how high can I go withOUT having to mess with the fenders? I have the Sahara and I want to keep my painted fenders, i like them. Im not trying to go off roading with this, moreless for looks. Any help?! Thanks:thumb:

Fenders have nothing to do with lift height. Most guys trim the fenders to clear bigger tires with minimal lift or just like the flat look.

What are your plans? How do you wheel the Jeep? How big of tires do you want to run?

All questions we need answered to point you into the direction.

Need a little more information of your future plans? IE are you going to roll on 33's, 35's or 37" tires? Do you have an Automatic transmission? Any plans of bumpers or winch?

If you want to keep your stock fenders and wanting to run 35's. Look at about 2.5 to 3" lift kits. If you plan on bumpers and winch skip the Budget boosts and jump to a coil spring lift. Anything over 3" of lift you will start getting into replacing your Driveshaft if you have an automatic as the rubber boot will rub on the tranny skid plate. Also, getting over 3" of lift you start getting into adding Lower Control arms to set your caster angle, adj track bars to center the axles.

Some great kits to look at are: OME, Rock Krawler & TeraFlex.

You can clear 35’s with a 2.5” lift. That also seems the max lift you can go without having to run control arms or drive shafts.

My advice would be a 2.5” lift and some 33’s. Make sure the lift you get has extended brake lines, front adjustable trackbar, rear trackbar tower, lift coils, bumpstops, front swaybar disconnects and shocks. For a budget minded lift and tire combo.

Look at Rock Krawler, they are a NY company http://www.rockkrawler.com/pages/catalog/index.php?r_cat=128

Also look at Synergy Suspension and Teraflex for your lift needs
