making a trailer out of a Jeep?

Has anyone made a trailer out of a jeep rear? We have a 95 wrangler that we are wanting to make into a cool camping/gear/hunting trailer. I want to close in in maybe a solid top, or a soft. Any tips or photos would be much appreciated.

I hope it helps.

A great way to get better MPG out of a jeep.

My buddy on Military Jeepers got a YJ tub converted into a trailer. Looked cool, but wouldn't be that great for towing.

Not my taste man, but the tower looks BA. Ill post progress as we go. SO far we have it split in two and im mocking up the front. I would love to go to the extreme with drawers ect, but my buddys a cheep ars. It will be mostly a hunting gear/deer hauler with class;)

The tub trailer build is awesome, looks better than one of those military M trailers, seems about the same size, and looks fricken nice behind another Jeep. I would be down with that idea, now to just find a doner. Damn, Jeeps are fun. All I need is more money, more space, and more time.

X2 Was going to post pics today but ended up tearing off a roof. Tomorrow ive got a 3d shoot to go to..this might take a while.

Well did allot today with the trailer. Unfortunately my phone got left under my hood and i drove about twenty miles:facepalm: So im unable to take good pictures due to this relic spare phone we had laying around. Got the front boxed in, and the tongue done. Sheet metal is next and then paint. ill try to get some pics soon, if anyone cares?

I would like to see

Sasquatch 4x4 06-04-2012 04:44 PM

for the top i'd say just make some sort of attachement that is either just a cover or even a little bigger that has tool boxes or a roof rack or that sort of thing.

tintin 06-05-2012 12:17 AM

I'd definitly be interested in seeing this. Not that I'm gonig to do it any time soon, but just to see it done would be great! Nice work for going with your own initiative.

caseyjoe 06-05-2012 04:16 PM

alright cool, ill post when i can. Found our digital cam so ill use that. For the record, this trailer will not be perfect, but it should look cool as hell and function like we intend.

busemans 06-05-2012 07:36 PM

it sounds badass man.

YJ325i 06-05-2012 08:38 PM

any pix of Jeep stuff is not a bad pix. There is a YJ at a local yard here, but they won't sell it to me for some legal crap, or just don't want to. The trick would be to go to the auction whre the junkyard go, to bid on the wrecks. Prob find a great doner wrangler for a project as this.

caseyjoe 06-06-2012 09:40 PM

Progress.

Cleared and cut in two. Framed in front and made tounge. Nothing was much of a prob so far. Cut door bottoms off front half to use on top of trailer to keep the body line. Ill address the nasty axle at some point. So far 100.00 invested. Jeep was 600.00 that we parted out for spares. My computer is acting like a motha F er :banghead:so if you have any questions or ideas feel free to let me know. :thumb:

the pic with the grinder shows a hole cut out on the floor. This is where the drive shaft ran. I cut the hump out so i can make it flat. This place will be a closed in box. where the floor steps down and to the front of the trailer will be one big box with a lid. This is prob hard to understand sorry, ill just show you when i get there.
