Anyone else have a problem with gas pumps?

Every time I go to a gas station to fill up the Jeep, I have the same problem. The gas pump shuts off repeatedly before the tank is full. The only way I can fill it is to only squeeze the pump handle about 50%. It then takes me about ten minuted to fuel up.

Happens at just about every gas station I go to. My wife won't even put gas in it anymore. When it gets low, she drives her other car until I go fill it up.

Kinda depends on what you're driving and you don't give any indication !

What year Jeep? IIRC, there is a known problem with the check valve in the filler tube going bad and restricting flow. I think it was subject to a recall in some model years?

this. I have an '08 and got a letter from Chrysler that says if I ever get the problem that I should bring it to the dealer and have them fix it for free. I don’t recall the affected years. Do far I haven't seen the problem…

Your problem is the subject of a TSB. Here's a screen capture from the NHTSA website on it:

Thanks. Wonder why the dealer or Chrysler never told me about that. I've bitched about it before to the dealer and they just shrugged.

Gee, I wonder..... ya' don't think they would want to mislead you, do you? :D

Now you can hand them the TSB number - I'd print out the summary I gave you and hand it to them, perhaps noting that it was issued in 2009. They'll have a little more trouble wriggling out of fixing it for ya' now.

:dance:hi, my last jeep was a 07jk never had a problem, however when
i went to the pump i used the slow fill speed on the handle, give it a go

07 Sahara had a problem filling up it wouldn't stop just spill all over the place, mentioned to local dealer extended warranty fixed no charges. Yeah

The only problem i have had is i tried to put more in when the pump turned off and it overflowed. When my 12 Rubicon MW3 unlimited is full, believe me its full.

Thanks for posting the letter from chrysler. My 07 spews gas out of the filler port when it gets near full. Doesn't matter if I'm doing it manually or with the auto shut off.

Check with your dealer/Chrysler using the phone number to see if you are covered - hopefully it is.
