OPDA Replacement?
My 2005 falls in the date of mfg that includes the ODPA problem.

It is my understanding that the problem is not the gears, but the lack of lubrication to the ODPA shaft. With the lack of lubrication the shaft tends to seize up and that is what destroys the gear.

My question is:

If I replace the ODPA assembly (unit) will this fix the problem or will the new one have the same problem at some time?

If you replace it and don't perform a 'Fogmod' or other modification to it, the potential for failure still exists.

Here is the best thread on the subject you'll ever find:

Mine spins easily and I still have excessive wear on the gears so there goes that theory. It's also the "fixed" rev. B OPDA..
