How shiny is your Jeep?

My Fifty is so shiny that I can see my refection perfectly! Show me how shiny your jeep is with your reflection!

phantombass 06-13-2012 12:58 AM

Wowza, that's pretty impressive! What products/techniques do you use to get black lookin' so fine, mine looks good for all of about 10 minutes haha.

Mine is almost that good.

wmwhitey 06-13-2012 01:09 AM

And I used a good trail ride and a creak wash on the way out so it is clean now as you can see in the pic.

Love gettin mine dirty, just can't stand leaving it that way. I usually wash it immediately after a trail run. Mud as a badge of honor is just laziness imo.

raycer 06-13-2012 07:30 AM

Even when I do clean my Jeep, it never shines lol

I love the color of your Jeep. What is it called? Khaki? It is different, I don't see that color alot.

Don't get too excited, it is a brand new Jeep. But that was after I hand washed, hand waxed and cleaned it.

Your flares still look black for a TJ. What do you do to keep them black and from turning grey?

So I own a detail shop, and run an online detailing forum teaching people the proper processes and products to use.

Mine was washed, clayed with Mothers, polished with Meguiars D151 and a Porter Cable orbital, sealed with FK 1000P. Wheels with Zephyr metal polish, sealed with FK 1000P. Trim and tires with a water based dressing.

What is clayed? I dont even know half the products you just listed:(. And your jeep looks awesome! Do you use a buffer or is it done by hand?

ShowroomShine 07-02-2012 08:48 PM

Clay is a method used to remove embedded contaminates from the paint. Put your hand in a plastic bag and slide it with light pressure across the paint. Feel all that gritty feeling stuff, thats what clay removes.

Auto detailing clay, detail clay bar, clay lubricant, Pinnacle Poly Clay, Wolfgang, auto detail clay, meguiar's detailing clay, auto clay bar

It leaves the paint extremely slick. Sealants and waxes last longer on the surface and protect better after a clay.

I use an orbital buffer with removable foam pads such as this one;
Dual Action Orbital Polisher Guide: how to remove swirls, scratches, & oxidation with an orbital buffer. Porter Cable 7424, foam pads, backing plate,

Your shine looks great btw. Turtle Wax ICE was sent to me to test and write a review on a few years ago. I remember it being a decent locally available product.
