No Dead Pedal in 6 speed
I recently test drove an Unlimited Sahara with a 6 speed manual. I admit that I do not plan on taking this thing off road, and what I really like about it is the flexibility of winter / summer use, etc. (Ok, I admit it.)

One thing which I found uncomfortable, even on a relatively short test drive, is that there is no place to rest your left foot. While many cars have a "dead pedal" which is an actual flat spot next to the clutch where you can rest your left foot, and still others, even if they don't have an actual dead pedal, still have space between the sidewall and the clutch to rest your left foot, in the Wrangler, the clutch is right up against the left sidewall so not even is there no dead pedal, there is not even any space at all to put your left foot. I either was driving with my left hovering over the clutch (not comfortable) or with the seat cranked up high enough that I could bend my leg at the knee and rest my foot that way.

Any comments on whether this is something people get used to, or just find annoying. In the city when constantly clutching it may not be so bad, on the highway, where do you put your foot?

I guess its just something you get used to. I never even thought about it until now, its just normal to me.
I put my foot on the floor :D

Most people use the floor.

Ive had alot of trucks with manual trannys and Ive never seen one with a dead pedal.....I use the floor like god intended:D

dead pedals are usually only found in cars where the floor is a short distance from your bum and you cant put yoru foot flat on teh floor. In a truck or jeep, you dont need the dead foot, just set it flat

My 05 TJ Auto has just the floor.

A dead petal is a must for me. When you're going down a steep obstacle, it's good to have something to brace off against to keep your butt in the seat.

Sorry for the out-of-focus picture.

The top of the pedal is about 3-4 inches from the firewall. I wouldn't be without one.

Never even noticed the lack of a dead pedal. Even when going down a steep trail in my 08 Unlimited Rubi, I guess I just adjusted to the lack of a pedal without thinking about it.
