vent bevel painting

Hi all, I've searched for it on here, but seem to be having no luck finding it if it's on here.

I'm looking for a how to of sorts on removing the silver round vent thingies (technical term, yes I know) and painting them a different color..

Gotta know how to remove them and replace them as well as what paints some of you may have used???

any help would be greatly appreciated!

I was thinking about doing this to my crush too, as well as the door inserts and the Jeep insert on the oh sh*t glove compartment handle.

I even found factory replacement paint to match our color code already!

Use the vid. I just went and pulled one of mine and took a close up for you to see the lever you are pushing down with the screwdriver. It can be tricky to get on top of it instead of under it so just play with it a bit. They turn out really easy so if you're forcing it you don't have the lever pushed down.

Also be really gentle with the tabs when pulling the trim off the vents. They're thin and crack easy.

I love how mine turned out. We just did hubby's yesterday too. It's a really cool cheap way to make it your own.

I used the fluorescent for sale sign spray paint on mine. The sales manager at my dealer thought it looked cool as hell. He was oogling all the changes I've made since I bought it last month.

You're not actually pushing back. You hafta line up the holes, stick the screw driver in and then turn the bevel.

Ok so I'm doing all 4 door handle grabs, the bevels and the sh1t bar insert orange.

I'm excited, the paint I bought looks really great.

Did you prime these before painting, or just spray and go?

The rust oleum that I used didn't need primer. I did 4 light coats and it came out fantastically.

Or if you want, Walmart actually sells an orange called "pumpkin orange" and it's near perfect for a match, can't even tell from the human eye. Take a look at mine.

The lighting makes it look a little yellow on the edge off the glove box handle, but the door trim is near match to the door edge as you can see

Hex Wrench for Door and Grab Handle Trim

Find a hex wrench that is the same size as the hex bolt in the trim. Insert so that the hex wrench is snug. Gently tilt hex one way so it is catching the inside of the "bolt" and gently pull. The trim should come right out.

I admit, this is a good trick damtall showed me. I have a set of trim sticks, so I used them, but if I didn't have those, this trick would be how I'd remove them.
