Replacing milk jugs with flat caps.

I want the flat caps for my front and rear bumper to replace the milk jugs. I saw from past posts you can get the caps from a jeep dealership parts department. I went to local dealer and the guy in parts said is his catalog the only thing he had for an '03 TJ was the milk jug ends. Does anyone have a part number or a year/model i could bring back to him to look up a part. He said he couldnt look up any other models or years cuase he couldnt garuantee it would fit, but if I brought him info on what did fit he'd get it in for me.

I tryed using the search button but couldn't find the info.

I just bought some on ebay and found several on the internet by using google.

i know but the fastest most reliable way is thru a stealership.

tell the parts guy you need end caps for 03-06 X model. I think they were about $9 for the fronts and $8 for the backs. I have the rears if you want them for free.

If he isn't interested in the caps, I am.....

Triple88a 03-18-2008 10:34 PM

i'd only replace the front caps... the rear looks like its missing something without the round caps.

Tj Bunch 03-18-2008 11:44 PM

I changed my rear bumper so it looks better anyhow.

Does anyone have a picture of what these flat caps look like? Or a link to a picture?

XNeoJesterX 03-19-2008 11:48 AM

thanks for the part numbers, im headed to jeep dealer now! =D

XNeoJesterX 03-19-2008 02:28 PM

I went to the dealership and gave him the part numbers and he ordered 3 caps they should be in tommarow morning, he oddly had just one front cap in stock. He said they were listed for '06 wranglers. Ill post up pics after they are on.

Mid if I ask you what they charged you for them? I'm just curious because I've read where people have paid anywhere from ~$2.50 each up to ~$16 each  at various dealers around the country.

XNeoJesterX 03-19-2008 07:27 PM

$5.75 a piece i think, all 4 were 24 and change after tax.

nicosuave 03-19-2008 10:27 PM

So nobody has a picture or a link to a pic of these caps?

Thanks Trip. I have my milkjugs taken off and don't mind the way the front bumper looks without those caps. I don't think it's really worth it to spend money on those caps.

Triple88a 03-19-2008 11:44 PM

all they do is just cover up the gap. If you're thinking of staying with the stock front bumper i'd say its worth the couple of bucks as it does give you clean look however if you're planning on a new one.. why waste money....

nicosuave 03-20-2008 12:45 AM

Good point. I think I might actually look into getting some for my front bumper if they are cheap enough. I'm planning on running my stock front bumper. I might cut it down a bit.

agreed.. i bought both front and back flat caps and only put on the fronts..

without the back jugs on.. your more likely to do damage to the back corners.. they are stayin on until i can afford a new rear bumper..

oh and its like 11-12$ a set at the jeep dealership

Barrie 03-20-2008 09:58 AM

I just ordered the front end caps for mine today, $3.95ea, from the dealer.:D

Here ya go! I used a combination of the overpriced plastic screw things and the original endcap screws.

glock22ed 09-16-2009 10:53 AM

I just put on the front and back end caps. Cheap investment until I can afford new bumpers. Cleans up the look of the bumpers.

WranglerXDave 09-16-2009 11:14 AM

Glock22ed,

Thanks for sharing that!!!! I was also looking to clean up the look of my bumpers until I can afford something nicer/better!! Never knew those existed!!!

Sounds good going to call dealer tomorrow. Called today but they wouldn't pick up. I saw them at a car show and thought they were cool as hell. Beats changing bumpers right now. I really don't like the way the back looks but I can live with that.

jakeysnake 09-18-2009 02:29 AM

I took the plasma cutter to mine and like the new look alot.

Anyone ever gone for this look on their jeep !!

InfernoGirl 09-18-2009 07:46 AM

Changing the front end caps is the best thing I've done for my Jeep so far.... Cost $7.70 for the Mopar parts from my dealer. The hardest part was taking off the old milk jugs. 9 years of mud and crud pretty much destroyed the little clip thing inside them. Ended up kicking them off, since the clips just spun around on the bottom. Save as many of the clips as you can, I know you need at least 4, maybe more. I ended up using some lock nuts and nuts to hold the unused screws in the top of the bumper, cause I didn't like the look of the empty holes.

theducman 09-27-2009 05:15 PM

I think this tread just saved me some dough. I wanted to get a new bumber but I like the way the stock one looks without the jugs. Now, I just need a bar to mout my new fogs??
