Norcal high lakes run

ok so lets set and offical date of August 11th and do a day trip to high lakes in Lassen National Forrest. We can meet at philbrook reservoir at 10am to start the day.

here is where it is on google maps to give everyone an idea.
https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&q...ed=0CEYQ_AUoAg

I will head up the second weekend of july to run trails and give a better idea of what exactly everyone is in for. the trials are rated from moderate on the main road in areas to very difficult going off trail to some of the lakes. After i get a good day out there i will let everyone know how good of a trail it is for stock jeeps although im sure they could be spotted though some of the moderate areas, i want to get a good look at the trail system before we all get out and is not fun for all.

videos of the trail can be found at this link with a breif description of what to expect will expand on this on july 16th after i run the trails as i will be camping in the area with some fellow jeepers from chico.

there is tons of trails up in that area and should be a fun time for all who make it out :action-smiley:

I should be able to make this one. Looks like it could be a lot of fun.

bobthetj03 06-19-2012 11:51 PM

Put me in as tentative for this run. the 11th is the only weekend in August that is questionable for me. It will be nice to follow for a change, lol!

JKTHOMPS 06-21-2012 12:30 AM

I'm in! It's only a 4 hr drive for me. Looks like it will be a good one!

Not me. That was your doing.

bobthetj03 06-21-2012 12:07 PM

Yep! I need to take it easy on the whole "list" thing. I tend to get carried away with that, lol! :whistling:

thats fine with me. sorry would have been on but got to experience changing my inner axle seals in the front. figured while i was at it why not do new bearings and some superior outer seals and clean the whole thing up.

droze 06-22-2012 01:54 AM

also looks like i may get lucky and go scout the weekend after this.

cant wait to go. really need to get out of town after the last week of work. Really been some stressful situations.

ready to go wheeling :punk:. doesn't look like im going this weekend though my friends cant go till next weekend, they are waiting on some others to join and don't really want to do it on my own since parts are referred to as the mini Rubicon. really want to try some of the tougher parts to give everyone a better idea what we can look forward to.

Sccafire 06-25-2012 11:59 PM

That's good. I have been looking at all of the info for this area and it looks like it will be a great run. :)

JKTHOMPS 06-27-2012 08:32 PM

gene13 06-27-2012 10:28 PM

Great pic's. I can't wait to go. What's the best way to get there?

droze 06-27-2012 10:59 PM

you could either use hwy 20 to 99 to paradise or use i80 to hwy 99 dont think there is really any better ways when i work in petaluma i just take 80 to 37 to 101 seems to be the fastest but thats from sac.

have gone 20 around the lake to 175 to 101 but had to go to clear lake 1st dont know if thats faster.

gene13 06-27-2012 11:13 PM

when we get up that way what's the best way? Google says to take some road that would take an hr or so to get up.

bobthetj03 06-28-2012 12:48 AM

We should all meet in Williams, head up I5, and take 161 to 99. We can caravan up to Paradise, and from there it's up to droze to guide us to the trail head. Just my 2 cents.

I smell a wrenching day upon us! After July 7 is good, minus the 21st-22nd.

Okay sweet! I will email you and see if we can set something up. I haven't started my lift yet and wouldn't mind talking shop while installing. :)

I can do that no problem. I will just have to find a good meeting place up there i know of a few places from working there. Would everyone like to meet outside store or maybe a diner in town. I like the Kalico kitchen good breakfast there. If not we can meet at the safeway, cvs, or walgreens so others can pick up last minute items for the trail ride.

I myself dont really eat breakfast that often so i would say the walgreens they have a large parking lot and there is an autozone in the same development if anyone needs something before we leave. But think food would be good since we will all be leaving early.

I can also lead the Sac area guys up if they would like to meet at best buy in roseville on the morning of at about 8:00 so we could be there by 10 am.

your input is welcome i want to make sure everyone can get what they need before we embark on the journey. :)

bobthetj03 06-28-2012 08:18 PM

That sounds good to me. We don't do breakfast either. The CVS or Safeway parking lot's work fine. Better anyway to pack some food and have lunch on the trail.
