Mechanical Door Stops
 
I have a 2012 unlimited Rubicon and my wife is always complaining about how the doors on my Jeep shut on her when she is loading stuff. I know there are door stop hinges out there but are there some that are better than others and do they replace the limiting door strap or just simply add more to disconnect when taking the doors off? Would love to see pictures and hear the opinions of those Jeepers who have them.

I have the Armadillo door stops on my JKUR and they work great. Only work for the front doors though.

Why only the front? Do you have anything on your back doors?

I don't have any on my rear doors. Armadillo's only work on front and no drilling required.

You can get Star Fab rear door stops but drilling is required.

At least I'm not the only one haha. My wife will be bummed they don't work on the rear doors too but I'm not drilling for door stops.

Star Fab makes the Smart Door. You have to cut big holes to make them work, but from what I've read, they work better than the Armadillos (these tend to click). They make them for front and back. Theres a write up on these in the July issue of JP magazine. I may opt for these instead of the Armadillos, even tho they cost more....and require drilling my new Jeep!

I have the Armadillo's on my daughter's since March and they work great. Having said that, the chrome plating on the "rod/shaft" has worn off very quickly. I believe it is more cosmetic than anything else.

Jeep finally has a piece to keep the tailgate stay opened, so why haven't they bothered to do something for the dorrs is beyond me.

Has anyone else had a problem with the Armadillos making a clicking noise? Can you stop the click by adding a lubricant?

They only click when you are opening/closing the door, mine click less after several uses.
