Am I missing something?

What is this threaded attachment point and what goes there? -- 2012 JK Sport.

N3M0 07-02-2012 11:15 AM

Hmm, I have a 2012 as well...never seen that before. Perhaps it is just meant to be covered up (on the inside of the fabric)?

ESP 07-02-2012 11:16 AM

I'm thinking it prevents the seat from moving past a set amount when moving it forward/backward.

I don't think so, it isn't connected to anything on the other side.

Fabric doesn't reach it. The passenger seat doesn't appear to have one.

jpstoner 07-02-2012 01:12 PM

I don't ever remember seeing that on mine... I'll take a look today after work.

SilverSport 07-02-2012 08:47 PM

Isn't that where the seat belt attaches?

blackntan 07-02-2012 08:56 PM

I have also noticed this on my 2011 but have no clue what is might be.

2x. Yep, seat belt anchor. Is the Op joking? I hope he's not riding around without buckling up.

Wrong Way Hal 07-02-2012 11:25 PM

Don't know what it's function is, but it is definitely NOT a seatbelt anchor. Those thinking it is, did you look at your JK first?

Mine was slightly covered up with the seat covering around the reclining lever, but like in the photo, nothing is attached to it.

Maybe it's for some after-market billet aluminum accessory, available in black, brushed or polished appearance, made in China at a cost of $3.37, that we MUST have and that our wonderful suppliers will only charge us a measly $79.98.

Regards.

Some sort of attachment point for assembly purposes? -Total guess-

eeagle 07-03-2012 12:05 AM

I have the very same empty threaded hole on my 2012 JK Sport.

iluvshoes 07-03-2012 12:10 AM

Mine is mostly covered by fabric. I wonder if it has anything to do with the back rest lever. I said that because if you look the lever on the driver seat is different from the one on the passenger seat.

Braveheart12JK 07-03-2012 02:09 AM

It has to do with the raising the seat up feature for the driver's seat. Not sure why there is that threaded hole, but that's the reason some can see it and some can not cause its covered to different degrees. Crank your seat up and watch that goofy threaded hole appear. Lol

Seat belt anchor
Do you have the height adjustable seat, it may only be used then

Beastmaster 07-03-2012 08:19 AM

They must have changed where they mount the seat belts on some models. That is where my seat bely attaches as well.

3TimeOwner 07-03-2012 09:58 AM

That is where my seat belt is anchored on a 2012 Rubi

Well shoot. I apologize for my earlier comment. I just ASSUMED that Jeep would engineer the seatbelt attachment points the same on all 2012 JKs. My 2012 JKR with height adjustable seat has the anchor point located on the floor almost directly underneath the seatbelt retractor mounted on the A pillar.

My seat belt anchors inside the roll bar post - behind the seat. It may just be the old anchor point??

spankinkopita 07-03-2012 10:23 AM

Weird if it was a mid model change, but whatever, maybe the rubi didn't trust the seat mount?
That is also where my passenger seat belt is mounted

jpstoner 07-04-2012 03:43 PM

Mine looks just like Danny's except my seat is apparently at its lowest and is mostly covered. I raised it all the way up and it looked EXACTLY like Danny's. I didn't even realize I could adjust the seat height...

Not sure what the threaded hole is for.

spankinkopita 07-04-2012 04:20 PM

I wonder if the floor mounted seat belt is for more aggressive off roading

DannyV 07-04-2012 10:28 PM

I haven't messed around with the seat height. Maybe my seat is way up? I will screw around with the seat hight tomorrow and see what happens.

ESP 07-04-2012 10:35 PM

yay seatbelts.

johnpmcelroy 07-05-2012 09:13 AM

You might want to take a second look at your engine and see if its missing anything.

WXman 07-05-2012 09:23 AM

Does this have anything to do with whether or not you've got the optional "seat mounted airbags"?

No, I don't need the stress :nonono:

JB71 07-05-2012 05:00 PM

Mine also has the empty bracket on the seat as my anchor point is down on the floor as well.

2012 Sport 2 door 12-11 build date.

DannyV 07-05-2012 05:27 PM

I played with the seat height adjuster today and found that the bracket never ducks out of view at either extent. I moved the fabric to cover it and then worked the seat to both extremes again. The fabric actually bunches a bit at the lowest point, like the bracket is meant to be outside it. This thing is really strange.
