Stubby Front Bumper

I am looking for a (as the title states) stubby front bumper for my 2012 JKU. I want one that uses the factory fog lights, has a grille guard or a stinger, and of course can seat a winch :thumb:. I have stock suspension (for now) and dont want something so heavy that it increases the factory rake :whistling:.

Pics if you've got em

I like my Rugged Ridge XHD with stubby end caps. It allows use of factory fogs. You can get it with or without winch mounts. The nice thing about it is you can change it later by just adding another end cap or stinger. It is completely modular.

Yep you've got lots of options here for a stubby the way you described. Cheapest way is to cut the stock bumper your self and add a bar but if your looking for a new bumper all together and or winch/light bar etc then check out all the ones up.

I did the conversion until I decide........

It's probably a good idea to explore whether you "need" (I use this lightly) a stinger or just a bull bar. I've only looked into it so much but a stinger is probably heaver. And just a bull bar is probably a bit easier to mount lights to. I could be misguided, so someone else feel free to step in.
I'm planning to put a stubby cap kit on mine next month and eventually a stinger like fernin has. Happy hunting!

I got the RR XHD too but had I done it again, or been patient, I would have gotten the Poison Spyder Brawler Light or the JCR Dagger Stubby with stinger like Fernin.

what makes you say that Dan. Funny, I am kinda torn between the RR XHD Aluminum and the PSC Brawler light.

N3M0 07-02-2012 02:40 PM

well, unless i find something that i like better. im not dead set on those two, but they are among my favorites so far.

What didn't you like about it?

I've been looking at the RR XHD Aluminum bumper too. I like the idea of less weight.

I Love anything PSC

I just installed my PSC Brawler bumper today, Now i just need to find a winch.

The Great thing about the PSC Brawler is its friggen easy to install and no problem with instaling the factory fog lights and it has the winch plate intergraded into the bumper.....ill go take more pics after my BBQ:punk:

Yes it does. Easy install and uses the factory fog lights, I did replace the SS bolts provided with the bumper with Gr8 bolts

Hey Nemo... seams we have another thing in common now... my PSC Brawler lite bumper and skid are due to arrive tomorrow. I've got to take it to get powder coated (or maybe line-x-ed!?!?) when it arrives. Definitely looks good on our crushes as Java demonstrated. So hopefully next week I'll have the final lift numbers for you.

Does anyone know of a stubby front bumper that retains factory fogs and has a recessed winch mount and a stinger

The ones from JCR is very nice and solid. They have different options to choose from and you can get them with recessed winch mounts.

The ACE one that John posted is nice and does come with a winch plate. It is the strongest out of the bunch since it comes in 1/4" steel. Also, it comes powder coated black! The only other ones that I can think of that does is the LOD's.

PSC is nice with their Brawler Lite lineup. They also just released a tall stinger option for this bumper that will be popular.

But, you were talking light weigt. Have you looked at the aluminum offerings from GenRight?

Well in your case the XHD aluminum is a nice choice. It is unique to the market, so IMO it doesn't compare to the regualr steel XHD.

In my case, to me, the XHD is really common since it is readily available and modular. I do like my bumper but it isn't designed beautifully like the PSC Brawler Lite or anything else PSC makes. Outfitting an XHD with end caps, hoops/stingers gets expensive in a hurry. With what I paid total for the bumper and stinger I could have got a JCR or ACE stubby or added a little more money and got a PSC Brawler Lite.

So, personally, if I was in your predicament choosing between the Brawler Lite and aluminum XHD, I would still go with the Brawler Lite.
