I'd be interested in doing that but I'm on vacation right now, and I'd want to bring a friend of mine with his jeep. So it would be a while from now, probably in September. So I'll keep this in mind.

I'm in Lakewood Ranch and am looking for places to go. JK is still stock and am in the process of deciding and ordering all my mods. Hit me up with any suggestions. Thanks!!

JKU SRQ 10-21-2012 07:42 PM

Had a great time out there today, looking forward to doing it again very soon.

Jerry... mine's a bone-stock '12 Sahara JKU... I was the first to get stuck, but then I was the only one that went through that particular puddle. Even so, a good time was had. Maybe join us some Sunday.

Just so you know, we left about 8:00, and that Rubicon was still there. They brought in a plane tug to pull it put as we were leaving. At this point it was a spectator sport, because there were about 50 people on Lena standing around watching.

The kid finally arrived with his mother.... He stayed in the car. LOL

joe buell 10-23-2012 04:58 AM

I'll likely be going out again this coming Sunday... "Fluffy" might give that big puddle another try. Anyone else planning to meet up at the Hess station?

Hey guys i thought i'd introduce myself. My names Austin, I'm 17 and have. A 2001 TJ on 35's, D30/D35 combo. I know it's not smart runnin the 35's but theyre all i have right now. Anyways, i've been followin this thread just haven't said anything because i haven't been driving my jeep lately because i don't have insurance on it.

I know a couple of spots and Behind publix is mostly overgrown with weeds now, and has become a dump. I haven't been out behind Norms lately.. But theres also a place called Tom Bennet Park full of mud, a place out by Lakewood Ranch, and theres some unmarked trais out at Lake Manatee State Park. $5 to get in and theres a service trail with no postings... As long as its not crowded out there no ones bothered me yet. Also there is a fun place with some hill climbs out in Palmetto called FedEx because it's behind a FedEx warehouse i dont know if any of ya'll have been out there. Another fun spot is out east in Lakewood ranch theres this quarry or mining going on and theres a lot of undeveloped land and roads that are fun to tool around on. Anyways i posted quite a bit of pics.. Sorry for pic whoring. But the first 3 are out behind Publix, the 2 after that are out at LMSP, the 3 after that are out in lakewood ranch at the quarry, after that is from Tom Bennet, the two after that are from FedEx, and the last two are a construction sight out down RyeRoad i just went and fooled around at.

Another thing is on Jeepforum there is a Sarasota/Bradenton thread with a couple of guys who get together. The pic with the three Jeeps is from when we got together at the same Hess your talking about. I'm not sure if it's the same guys on this thread but it would be pretty cool to get everyone together. Probably could be 5-6 Jeeps.

joe buell 10-31-2012 11:30 AM

AevM47 hi and welcome to the WF nice looking jeep we were all out at the sr70 site and 2 FWC guys came by and said all was cool with where we were as far as fedex I know about it never been there or LWRanch as far as any construction site I will not do that if you get CAUGHT IN A CONSTRUCTION SITE it is a slam dunk FELONY and you will go to JAIL just a warning not trying to preach but a Felony is not cool keep track of the post here and see who will show up next sunday like to see ya out there Joe.

AevM47 10-31-2012 12:05 PM

Thanks, but sorry i didn't really make myself clear and without pictures it's kind of hard to explain.. But it is not a construction site. There is absolutely no equipment near it at all, and there are no posted signs. It's kind of an undeveloped plot of land with a couple different hills that you can climb, some mounds of dirt you can crawl over like in the poser pic with the 3 jeeps, as well as a couple of mud holes. Then there are dirt roads in different directions that either lead back to a main road by a neighborhood, or other places i haven't been. It's an obvious offroad spot by the ruts, mud holes, and obstacles. Not a construction area. Hope that clears things up. Its fairly close to Norms and when i went, we met at the Hess and went there instead of the power lines behind Norms because It's a little more accessible, and open.
