Changing Diff Gears

Further to my recent posting I have done some research into the suject. Here is what I have: My 2006 four liter six speed Wranger has a Dana30 front and Dana35 rear axel with 3.07 gears from the factory. I lifted it and fitted 33X12.5 Baja Claws. I found out today that someone at the place I work can do the work (having experience building several race cars etc). He asked me to check to see if the gear carriers in the diffs would accept a change to 4.10 gears. I called the dealership and was told that I did not need new carriers. Assuming that this is correct; new gears will run $4-500 for two sets. I was advised that 4.10 would be the best ratio to have for 33's. Can anyone reccomend a supplier for gears? Actual specs woudl be good. If I have my buddy at work fit the gears for me I want to make sure I buy the right ones.

You will need new carriers as the break over point is like 3.53 or somthing. 4.56 is best forthe 33's:)

3.73 is the split. And not so sure 4.56 would be the best bet with the 6 speed. Who has a gear chart laying around for the 6 speed tranny?

Ya I thats right don't know why 3.53 came to mind. I'm tired.

I belive that the ratio is about the same except for a lower first speed. But I think that 6th gear is about the same a 5th gear on a 5spd:rolleyes:

I don't remember that being the case. Just my own personal recollection of driving a 6 speed. I'm confused why he has a 6 speed and 3.07s.

Ya that is weird I thought they had 3.73 hold on I'll find the gear ratios.

AX-15 3.83, 2.33, 1.44, 1.00, 0.79
NV3550 4.01, 2.33, 1.39, 1.00, 0.78
I've seen 2 different sets of numbers for the 6 speed, do not know which one is correct -maybe one is for the export models.
NSG370 5.014, 2.831, 1.789, 1.256, 1.00, 0.828
4.46, 2.61, 1.72, 1.25, 1.00, 0.84

if you are only going to be running 33's then go HP D30 front and D44/8.8 rear
