Supertop NX installation question

Forgive me if this has already been asked and answered. I dug around through previous posts and didn't find it, so here's my question...

We just installed our new Bestop Supertop NX on our 99 TJ. Fits great except for the back side flaps. We can't get the plastic on the bottom of the rear corners to stay in the retainer channels. Has anyone else had this issue? I'm attaching a pic of one of the back corners. Thanks in advance for any advice!

Mine doesn't have that issue and I've never seen any of my various TJ soft tops do that. Maybe moving the rear support hoop to a different mounting hole on the rollbar bracket will help?

Mines the Trektop but I thing the mounting is the same for the bottom. I've just put mine on and off once . I had a problem in that area also. I found that by starting back there and then working forward to the doors worked best and easiest for me.

I had to unlatch the sunrider in order to get the back corners on. Once they are in place, go ahead and re-latch them. The fabric should stretch properly after a day or so.

the stock channels on my 2000 were too high for the new Supertop to fit tightly also. I removed them and installed the new channels that came with the top and it fit better, but not super tight.
The hard top would fit over the original channels, but the rear window hits the new channels so I have to remove them in the winter if I'm going to put the hard top on.

Thanks for the ideas everyone. We've tried moving the rear support to a different mounting hole, starting from the back, starting from the front, windows in, windows out, front latched and unlatched. We've replaced all of the original hardware with the hardware that came with the new top.

The issue seems to be related to the plastic strips at the bottom of the rear corners. All of the other plastic strips fit into their channels great. But for some reason, we just can't get the plastic strips at the bottom of the rear corners to mold around and fit into the body channels like they should. Maybe sitting outside for a bit and baking in the TX sun will help soften them up. Perhaps the plastic is just too stiff right now. It's like it wants to be straight instead of curving around the back and staying in the channels. I'm attaching a pic from another angle (looking from the back on the driver's side).

Appreciate your help! It's got us stumped.

Judging by the pics it appears that the rear flares up near the bottom and if that's the case then I would have to agree that your particular top has a problem. I have the same model of top and those rear pieces hang straight down with no flare and subsequently fit perfectly into their respective slots.

I will suggest before you call Bestop one more procedure and its how I found to be the easiest way to put the top up on my jeep. I start with locking the soft top frame into the middle locks near the door frame first. Next lock in the rear corners. Put one hand on the top of the rear frame and pull down then slip the plastic tabs into their grooves. Lastly, lock soft top frame into windshield and I stress doing this step last otherwise there is not enough play in the frame to pull down the rear flaps.

Just another thing to try and I hope I explained this clearly.

If that doesn't work call Bestop and surrender :surrender:

Was there a problem with your original?

I don't see new Chanel with a supertop NX for a TJ. Do you have a picture?
