Removing glove box and grab handle???!

I removed the top three screws, and the bottom four bolts holding the glove box door on, but the thing doesn't want to come out!! Help!!!

I "think" I had to remove the entire dash just to get mine out... There's a couple screws inside of the door as well, at the bottom.

There are also nuts on the backside of the dash. If you reach up there you can feel them. I wanna say they are 10mm

^ 10mm is correct...2 on either side of the glovebox straight behind the grab handle. If you lay on the floor and look up to the backside of the dash (yeah, it can be done with your butt on the seat and all the blood rushing to your head) You will see the 4 nuts that need to be removed to get that part of the dash out.

I just did this like 4 days ago. There are 4 philips head screws in the back. I didn't know that, but was replacing the metal that everything connects to, and I finally got it from behind. They are very awkwardly placed to remove from behind, but they are fairly easily accesible when you know what you are looking for. two on each side of the cubby thing.

Yeah I found em thanks guys. Hard to get to! I was upside down in my seat trying to pull em out and finally said screw this and just removed my seat. Wayyyyy easier!

My seat was out. Lucky you didn't strip the nutserts on the seat mounts and create more work for yourself.

I just replaced my seats two weeks ago so they come out nice and easy now :) Got bucket seats from an '02 Cavalier for 15 bucks each at the local junkyard. Super comfy and in excellent condition. Not to mention they look great. Direct bolt on to the sliders too.

Fabric or vinyl?

BadMojo11 07-11-2012 12:41 AM

They are fabric. And cheap enough I can just replace them when they get messed up. I'm in the process of switching my whole interior to black and at some point will be looking for some nice black vinyl seats.

Or seats from a sunfire, s-10, and a couple others. They are all direct bolt ins. I got the tip myself from a thread in this forum. Can't beat 30 bucks for two like-new, super comfortable seats :)

Sorry to resurrect an old thread here - but trying to get the glovebox out to replace a radio. Need to get under that left tab of the glovebox surround.

I found the 3 screws up top and 2 on the bottom. Also found the 4 from behind, unfortunately they are very tight and I can't get them out....

Couldn't find the 2 10mm nuts though.
