Latest dealership visit
 
I'm at the dealership right now, where my Jeep has been for a week while I was out of town. My CCCM had asked them to do an exhaust leak down check and lifter bore measurement due to the tick that has been getting worse that last few months (acknowledged by them).

Normally I'd put this in The Tick post but the service manager just told me some "interesting" things.

* they don't have the equipment to perform the 2 tests

* the tick is now just "normal injector noise"

* my alignment is off due to my TF leveling kit and can't be fixed until I install an adjustable trackbar

* my ESC light comes on while driving over very bumpy spots because my Jeep has 15" wheels and "Wranglers aren't made to have 15" wheels, only 17" and 18".

Anyone have thoughts about this? :)

Go somewhere else and don't let them touch your jeep. Rocks are smarter.

A adj track is used to re-center your axles not align your jeep. You can perform a steering wheel alignment in your driveway using a 15mm wrench. Your ESC light is coming on because your steering wheel is not centered. Has nothing to do with wheel size...."good lord funniest thing I've ever heard." Did you ask the service guy why then jeeps come stock with 225/75/16 wheels and tires?

Gotta love it.

Leave and take your Jeep to a different dealer, NOW!

He is most likely correct about the alignment and your steering wheel might be off center causing the light to come on.

Haha ya, I was wondering if the look on my face was giving away just how ridiculous it was all sounding. I'm no expert but I've learned a lot on WF, and even I knew he had no clue. He did say he was just repeating what his tech told him (who came out later and told me the exact same things), so what little patience and confidence I had in them pretty much bottomed out after that.

I don't even know where to go after this; I'm just disgusted with the whole experience.

Go home and fix all these things by your self. They are all easy.

If your jeep is lifted and either axle is off center, get an adj track bar and renter it. If your steering wheel is not centered, adjust the draglink under your front end by loosening the two 15mm bolts and turning the collar to turn the steering wheel. Once centered, tighten back up the bolts and your done. Takes 5 minutes. If your unsure about working on your jeep, ask here on the forums. :thumb:

Hey there, Isee you are from the Dallas area. If you are not sure about doing the work yourself, there is a huge number of jeepers in DFW area. I am sure someone would be happy to help ya. In fact one of the members has a wok day once in a while at his place. Good luck, and there has to be a good dealer somewhere in the DFW area.

The dealers around my area disgust me. They never know anything. I asked once about DW and of course the service manager had never heard of it. I called them about the "hot oil" light in hopes of getting a trans cooler, and of course he's never heard of that either, so I just started wrenching on it myself.

ya, the hubby and I have done all the mods ourselves, so we'll get it aligned. It wasn't even at the dealership for that reason though, so I just had to share the ridiculous statements.

I'm just a bit shell shocked from my entire experience regarding the engine. Yes it ticks, yes it's a problem that will just get worse, no we can't fix it until it throws a misfire code and/or CEL, wait! it's just normal injector noise!!
