Hey, guys. I recently purchased my first TJ and after a week or so I realized there were serious rust issues. After further inspection, I need a chassis swap. :-( I'm a bit upset cuz that means I will be taking longer to beef up my jeep. I have research rust removal and prevention products and find the POR -15 and Eastwood have the best chems for the job. Still, it will take me a weekend to prepare the new chassis and a weekend to swap it. I won't be at this alone though, my dad (A certified mech with 30 yrs of XP) will be helping me out. Any advice, or quick tips for me. It seems like such a big project... Wish me luck.

Sorry to hear that. It's not as big of a job as it looks, just keep a bunch of PB-blaster ready.

Finally, this weekend I was able to prep the frame. I sanded the whole frame down to the metal, applied prep solution, two coats of rust converter and internal coating. I have to let it sit for 48 before I put in the encapsulator and the final paint.
Will do the rest on Weds.

I finished!!! I put the encapsulator, the black chassis finished and when to work on switching the frames. It took us three days to swap them. Only a few bolts got cut. We did have to replace a few others that were too rusted to put back in. The jeep runs super quiet now. It feels like a changed the suspension!!!!!! pics coming soon.

Sounds like you've gained a lot of valuable experience. At least you won't be afraid to tear apart your jeep to do mods now:thumb:
