Rustoleum Bed Liner as prep for Monstaliner

Ok, so I've been reading over the 10k+ bed liner posts and think I've got a new one! To the point:

I'm going to be yanking the carpet out from my '11 Wrangler, and will be putting Monstaliner down. Is there anything wrong with using the Rustoleum rattle can bed liner as prep for the Monstaliner, rather than sanding? Would I be setting myself up for disaster by putting the Rustoleum on a glossy surface in the first place?

I was thinking this would be easier of course, but also that it could buy me a little time so I can rip the carpets out right away and not have to invest in the Monstaliner for another few months.

Thoughts?

I would think the rustoleum would not stick to the clear coat either. You will have to do your prep with either product. IMHO

That's my fear - thanks for the second opinion. When I was spraying my wheels I got some on the metal painted sawhorses it was resting on and it seems tough as nails - but with the heat from the road and whatever else I'm not sure I want to chance it.

I would just order your monsta, start stripping and prepping the Jeep. By the time your monsta shows up you will be done prepping. It took me one day to remove everything, and 2 days to prep. This was working around kids schedule and not being able to work in the middle of the day {too hot }. You will love the monsta once you get it in.
