TJ V Range-Rover.......UK
So there I was, in a pub in the deep outback, when an old farmer mate appeared for a beer. Later, back at his farm(small-holding to `mericans!) and many beers he slurred that he had bought his son a jeep for his graduation but son went to Canada and never came back, did i want it? In the shed was a 4.0 Sahara manual, untouched since `98! After much towing, flushed fuel, new battery, tyres and hood,it sailed through inspection and sits outside my house. It shares the shed with 6 other cars, mostly mobile and my eighth Range-rover, after using both, the Rangy is headed for the skip, yes, its more comfortable but that's it. My vehicles get used, and home is a 16klik track up the Pyrenees needing low-ratio, the Rangy is too heavy for its power, needs chains in any bad conditions and has an amazing ability to die at the worst possible moment, oh and frighten Amex to death. The technology in the TJ is a bit crude(who put the oil filter next the frame?!) BUT you can grease joints, change most things with hammer, Stilsons and pliers, try that on a Range-Rover. I took it to Senegal not long ago, and had to rent a software program in case the battery went U/S,not too relaxing. So am I happy with a TJ? My DD, a twin turbo frog car is dust covered, as is everything else, the fuel may disappear too fast but so what? At my senile age, I don`t care, it`s so much fun and people wave, or they scream as they head for the ditch, well done America,at last you`ve made a vehicle that fits our roads AND is fun!
P.S. Need more power! who does`nt?

I love it. He actually likes an American rig. Range rovers are big heavy pigs to say the least. Yea they are comfortable inside but your not going very far in it. Have fun trail blazing in your new Jeep

Jeep people are polite! my last experience of a colonial forum run for a Munich car was "like bringing a knife to a gun-fight"! Being an old fart in the Merchant Navy I am off America as I write but escape to Pau when the british weather turns, most of the time.I do realise that slander laws apply but it is hard to know what is and what is Currie axle spec, We have to weed through a lot of manure and Jerry B speak to work it out, maybe somebody could explain which US supplier is budget and which is quality?
