Advice needed: Help me transform my Jeep!

1 Attachment(s)
Hey y'all, first time poster here. Here is my baby! She's a 2000 TJ Sport, 6 cyl, 4.0 liter 5 sp.

I have finally decided to put my heart into this thing because I love it so so much. But I have no clue what I'm doing... Here's the deal - I live in Atlanta, GA, and this thing is my dd. It needs new tires, so I thought why not throw in a lift and get this thing a little farther in the air. But since I live in the city, I really don't want to compromise my gas mileage to the point where I'm pulling my hair out. But I do want to be able to take it offroad and have it perform.. so that's my dilemma.

That being said, my budget is 1000$
I want bigger tires, a lift, and a more comfortable city ride. What the hell do I do now? Is a lift kit the best option? I could do the BBs myself... What type of tires and size should i shoot for?

And if anyone knows any reputable shops inside the perimeter, please share!

Thanks so much!

Check out the "cheap easy fun creative" thread.

BB with shocks runs about $300.....leaving you with around $600-$700 for tires.

You should be able to do it on your budget

I would run 31x10.5 BFG AT's or MT's and not fool with a lift, or just do a BB if you really want a little lift. Just my .02

2" BB with 33s

I like this a lot. did your gas mileage change at all after these installs? what kind of tires do you have?

I would say his mileage dropped, and those look like 33x12.5 BFG AT's

I would add a 1.25" body lift with a 1" motor lift

.75 inch BB and 31" Kuhmo ATs great on road and off road. gets pretty bumpy off tho.
i would recommend BFG ATs though. they are probably the all around best tire.

+1 on the BFG ATs. From the photo you provided, looks like you have stock rims. 31" tire is about the largest you can go on those rims. Shop around and you should be able to get a set of 31x10.5 BFG AT's and still have room in your budget for a BB, if you do the work yourself. If you wanted a more aggressive looking wheel without breaking the bank, you could bedline your rims...that's a good look on a red Jeep! If you wanted to go with anything larger than a 31" tire, then you would also need new wheels plus a lift, especially if you plan to off-road at all, and that may be tough to do for $1,000. Oh and with 31" tires the impact to mileage should be negligible.

The are BFG ATs and gas mileage did drop but not that much.

Found this picture in another thread. This will give you an idea what your Jeep could look like with 31" AT tires, 2" BB and bedlined stock rims:

I have a 00 Sport on 31 BFG AT's and no lift.
I would stay between 2-3inch anymore and you tires start looking small.

I have a 2000 red Sport
I have 31" BFG A/Ts
Stock wheels bed lined
NO lift
It's in my avatar
