Depends on what you want to do with it. Is it going to be a family car or a car you just have fun with? It seems in good shape and the miles are really good. Great thing about Craig's list is that you can test drive before buying. Bottom line, as long as it is in good shape, there is no such thing as "to old" with a wrangler.

Age isn't the issue but condition might be. If it has been well taken care of then I would consider it.

Ok how do I explain this to my dad because he thinks its wayyyyy tooo old.

My wife loved her 93. It was our family vehicle till two years ago when she decided she wanted a pt cruiser. It was a super vehicle and never stopped riunning once in the whole time we owned it. We sold it with 200k on it for almost what that one is listed for. Drove that thing all over Texas and the wife took it to see her family, three hours away, by herself, once or twice a month. That's how dependable it was.

Tell your dad that the resale value on a wrangler will hold....if not appreciate over the next 5-10 years.

I buy and sell cars wholesale for a living...and i can send a broke down yj wrangler to auction and still sell it for 2000-2500 in non running shape.

jeep30 07-28-2012 01:52 PM

Yeah these jeeps tend to hold a decent value with light mods as long as they're solid.

liamsengland 07-28-2012 02:03 PM

Jeeps hold their resale value, and last practically forever if you take good care of them.

** but I would look towards DC, Va, and WV, when i was shopping for a yj last month, I noticed maryland was really expensive compared to them.

Tell him good point, and that just the other day you heard your mom say the same thing about him, right after the pool boy stopped by.

Ok, I am just as new as whoever it was that started this post and even though this might not be how I do this here goes.....

Would you think this 92 YJ is a good deal or is it a little overpriced?

This is for a play toy, for me and my two boys (Ages 6 and 3). I am worried about the price and miles, any real concern here or?...

Thanks guys.

Jeeps hold their value better than most cars/trucks. It is old, but $5500 is not too bad of a price; especially around here. There are several that have been listed, that seem to be in as good of shape, for over 6k, so that sounds like a reasonable asking price and its "neg" too so if you are interested start with a low bid, say $4500 and see where it goes.

This all day long...

You can easily sell private for 2-2500 as well.

Mine I got at $2000, running with only reverse out in the BA10. If I wouldnt have had rebuilt that POS, I would only have 2800 into it and its a fine rig. Even though I replaced the Transmission and transfer case with the AX15/NP231 for another $300, and added axles with 4.10 gears, I still only have $3400 into it and can sell it easily for that here.

price will vary...makes no mention if gears have been upgraded to handle bigger tires, or if the axles have been upgraded.
