Croom Questions??

I'm looking to go to Croom tomorrow. I'm not too sure how to get there, or what to look for. I know where CROOM is, but not the part where jeeps are able to go. I'm in Tampa. Any help appreciated!

Jakepurvis look up silver lake campground and withlacoochee forest on the computer it might show trails that you can print out joe.

Thanks Joe! I will definitely look in to that. I appreciate it. And yeah, Add me as a friend, I'd love to get together with a bunch of other jeeps. I've never been offroading before.

There are trails for Jeeps in Citrus, Croom and Richloam. Richloam is the most swamp/mud usually. Croom is the dustiest due to the most sugar sand type trails. Citrus is nice since its trail seem more clay based. Make sure you stay on trails at all times.

I am going to citrus this morning. I'm confused on how to get there, though.

Sorry, just saw the Citrus reply. Search Holder Mine or Tillis Hill campground in Citrus. That will get you to those and the board at those campgrounds usually have maps. Stage Coach Rd I think will take you right past a main entrance to Citrus trails.

Ive been to croom and richloam here resently, never go by yourself, I've had bad experiences in croom hernando side, thought I could make it through a hole on trail 9, ended up staying the night from 2 am to 2 pm... Phone died at 4am then at 1 pm I realized I had a cb... I felt pretty stupid...

I'm also a Tampa jeeper. Any trail rides soon?

I was thinking of heading up to Croom this weekend, maybe Saturday morning. Anyone else up for that?

Trevor C 09-12-2012 11:43 AM

It is swamped from all the rain. I'm not taking the chances like last time.

What part of croom is jeepable? I only know the main entrance from my dirtbike days. How do you get to jeep trails?

Trevor C 09-16-2012 12:07 AM

I know how to get there but don't know road names, I enter from the bushnell prison area, hard to explain, but I wouldnt go out there sence hunting season is back.
