Anyone know of a good dealer in Northern VA

Looking for a good dealer that will shoot straight in Northern VA. My son just purchased his first JKU on Sunday and part of the deal was he was buying a JKU for his wife today, they were getting it the JKU from another dealer. When he arrived they said they could not find one locally, he found 6. They also said the deal they agreed on was no longer available. Really disappointed in the way they handled him.
I even canceled my order. Are there any honest dealers that are values based and do what they say.

Not sure where you are but you can try Safford Jeep/Dodge in Fredericksburg.
Talk to Brian Smith, he helped me get my Gecko ordered and is a great guy to deal with.

I ordered my 2013 Jeep from Fair Oaks Chrysler Jeep and they were great. They were recommended by Pat from Fields Jeep a sponsor on this forum. Straight shooters and very fair at least to me.

scuba_steve 07-31-2012 08:38 PM

Great post. Had the same question. Definitely would like to know who that first dealer was and if anyone else has good or bad experiences that they would like to share for any other Nova dealers.

Bought my TJ at Dulles a long time ago...and my YJ at Farrish even longer ago...so I am looking for current info.

Thanks!

I'm not sure how sales is, but if the parts / service department is any indication manassas Jeep was an outstanding place to deal with.

KittyPrawn 07-31-2012 09:24 PM

My man bought his at Safford in Springfield. We mostly dealt with the sales manager Noel. We felt it was a pretty straight forward experience. He got a decent deal on the Jeep, and there weren't really any haggling games.

The only place they kind of failed was on the trade-in. They were going to give 2k less than Carmax offered.

Jerkstore 07-31-2012 10:40 PM

I bought my 12 Altitude at Farrish in Fairfax. They beat the other two dealers I looked at in Tysons Corner and in Southampton, NY. John Grundy gave me a fair deal by email and we closed the deal relatively quickly when I came in.

Dylanjwhall 07-31-2012 10:44 PM

Safford in springfield is where i bought my rubi at My best friends dad used to run the place so i got hooked up with a great deal, If you do end up going there ask for the guy with the Radio announcer voice (can't think of his name right now) but They will know what you mean i promise haha

Quintanaroo 07-31-2012 11:10 PM

A bit of a drive but Heritage in Baltimore gives 1K under invoice no hassle. Chad Edwards is a great guy to work with. Also the Dealer fee is only $200 instead of the $400 in all the VA dealers.

nateburch 08-01-2012 08:03 AM

I bought mine from Farrish also. It was breeze, and they were cheaper than anyone.

Six 08-01-2012 08:10 AM

I did, but he's in jail now on intent to distribute charges....Oh, you didn't mean that kind of dealer? :D

steed77 08-01-2012 09:26 AM

This guy hooked me with ZERO drama. I HATE dealers, this guy was very good in my book. I would even to go say he was straight shooing, honest and got me a very good deal (cross shopped several other dealers)

I just picked up a 2012 Wrangler Unlimited Freedom Edition last night from Fair Oaks in Chantilly, VA.

I’ve spent the past two weeks calling, emailing and checking inventory with just about every dealership in a 100 mile radius.

I went with Fair Oaks because they had the Jeep I wanted in stock. I worked with Bonnie the internet sales manager. She provided me with price quotes and inventory via email.

I am planning on writing up another post on the whole buying experience later on this week.

One good resource to use is a website called DealerRater.com the link for NOVA is here:

Dealer name please...

The sales manager just called and said he was taking over the transaction and would be our point of contact to see make sure everything is corrected, seems he was unaware of the issues. I will keep you informed once I see what he does. If I'd the Jeep dealer in Chantilly auto park, up to him now a hero or a .........

We drive down to Safford Of Springfield from NJ because they gave us an incredible deal on a 2012 Jeep Wrangler Sport S, all the other dealers around us didnt have what I wanted and all seemed really shady, most wanted to play games.

We dealt with Sam at safford, the process was quick and was one of the more pleasurable *american car purchases* we have been through. Although it wasnt like buying a BMW/Audi like were used to it was definitely great and my brother will be Ordering his JKU from them in a few months.

Good Luck!

I bought my 2012 JKU at Southern Jeep Greenbrier. It is in Chesapeake Va. I delt with Eddie Mac, he is good. Calls occasionally see if I want to go riding with his little (20+) group of Jeeps. I was over there the other day they had quite a few JK’s. Don’t know if you want to travel that far but I would at least call him.

rwdflynavy 08-01-2012 05:33 PM

I got a really good deal on my Altitude at Lustine in Woodbridge. Fairly no-nonsense.

Sgtt45 08-01-2012 07:41 PM

I tried to buy at Safford in Springfield but they would not even return my calls! Piss poor customer service. Ended up getting what I want at Koons in Tysons. Got lifetime oil change and service included for being a vet.

Lifetime oil changes, that's nice!

I actually visited Stafford in Springfield twice since they were recommended by USAA. I didn't end up buying from them because they didn't have much of a selection of Wranglers and they were not able to give me a good price on pulling a vehicle from another dealership.

Another recommendation for Joe at Koons Jeep in Tysons. He gave me the best initial OTD price for a 2012 and 2013 JKU. I took his price to all the other dealerships to match. Ultimately, I ordered a 2013 JKU from Joe because I was able to easily haggle a couple hundred dollars more along with free slush mats. Easy guy to deal with. Plus, the lifetime oil changes is a plus.

Safford in Fredericksburg also matched Joe's price, but, I ended up not going with them because they're too far.

Fair Oaks is closest to my house and my buddy bought 3 jeeps from them. Unfortunately, they couldn't match the price. I dealt with Thad and he was pretty straight forward, but, not very responsive.

I passed by the jeep dealer in leesburg yesterday they had like 7 2012's. Ive had decent luck dealing with them in the past when I worked at a chrysler jeep dealership. I got my Jeep at Lustine....they usually have dozens in stock so they are more likely to deal on pricing.

+1 :thumb: I found mine on their internet, and they gave me a pretty good discount from what was posted. I live in southern maryland and while i like my service from the local dealer, they don't want to give what i think is a fair shake in sales. so, i take it elsewhere. i took it to koons. i'd buy there again in a heartbeat.

Don't afraid to travel....I drove 100 miles to get mine...I got a loaded sahara for less than my local dealers wanted for basic ones. Saved several thousand bucks

Exactly... I have 2 dealers much closer than Koons in viena. Joe defiantly was worth the travel. When I ordered it was painless. For the zero drama, I would of easily drove 300 miles, even tho he was 20ish miles.

SHYUperman 08-04-2012 01:32 PM

Joe from Koons just told me that they got a small shipment of 2013 JKs:

2 Saharas, 1 Rubicon, 4 Sports (none of the Sports have the Power Package)

scuba_steve 09-03-2012 08:16 PM

I just wanted to close the loop. I bit the bullet and drove to Safford in Fredericksburg today (60 miles) to pick up my 2013 JKR.

They had the model with the options that I wanted...and dealing with Ben Clarke via email was painless. We exchanged about half a dozen email messages discussing price, my trade, fees, etc...and he was very responsive and very straightforward. No games at all.

He started at close to 3% under invoice. Even with their dealer processing fee, I came out well under the Trade Lightly Affiliate pricing. He also helped me get a fair price on my trade. I researched the value through many sources in advance, including Edmunds, NADA, KBB, and looking at private party sales, and their price was higher than the mid-range of the trade value based on condition and mileage.

Given that I didn't finance or buy any dealer options (e.g., rust proofing, service plans), their profit was limited...yet EVERYONE at the dealership treated my wife and me fantastically. I would definitely give them two thumbs up.

The only tough part was driving home on back roads so the break-in wouldn't be on the highway. :D

Heritage Owings Mills, Md. Got my 2009 JKU Rubi with Max Tow and Hard Top for $28.8. Awesome to deal with, no hassle... Highly recommend!

There's a dealer in Leesburg, VA. Not sure what they're called, but I would never visit them again. The first time I visited, I hadn't even been in the showroom for 30 seconds and had already been insulted by the sales manager and one of his bozos; no exaggeration. They apparently had a problem with me walking in wearing sweat pants and a sweat shirt, nevermind I'd just been out for a walk/run prior to visiting.

I walked in and the sales manager calls one of his cronies over and says, "Show this fellow what we can not sell him today." The crony looks me up and down with this cross-eyed look on his face, and says, "Oooookay, what can I NOT sell you today?" I rolled my eyes and told him, "You aren't selling me ANYTHING today with that attitude, and let's talk about an order." The conversation declined from there and I finally told him I was sick of his condescending attitude and I'd be returning to show him my new Jeep.

...About a month later I sent his sales manager a pic of me and my new Jeep with an attached message, "This is the Jeep you could NOT sell me." No return response from him.

Anyway, if you don't mind a longer drive, I bought up the street from where I live at Miller Dodge Chrysler in Martinsburg, WV. I haven't had a problem there and they've been easy to deal with. Did I get the best deal? Probably not, but that was my fault. :hide:
