Dfw area jeep clubs?

Hey all, I saw on this board that Austin has a pretty big and good Jeep Club. Just wondering if there is such an animal here in Fort Worth/Dallas.

Thanks

Looks like there's some North Texas events coming up.

Maybe this is a stupid question, but why would you pay money to join a jeep club? Isn't the point of a jeep club to meet other jeepers and hangout? It's cool they get a discount at some parts places but I'm not seeing any in my area with out having to drive 45 min which negates the purpose of the discount because I'm making it up in gas and most of them seem closer to the Dallas area and I avoid Dallas like the plague. Don't get me wrong I'm not nocking them or any club that charges, I'm just curious of the advantage of a paid club vs a club that's just people getting together and having a great time with out a membership cost. Maybe I'm missing something. I may still join, I'm just curious as to what $35/year really gets me?

Will you be at the LSJC run in Gilmer in a few weeks? I plan on making it and it will be my first time to meet them.

Hold your forum user profile for ransom

Lone Star Jeep Club will allow you to make a profile, but if you do not pay your yearly dues, your profile will be locked and you cannot edit it.

The public can view your profile and you have access to the public forums.

When you do pay the ransom to access your forum profile on a public website, they do not unlock your profile in a timely manner as stated on the forums FAQ.
"1. How Long does it take for my account to get activated?
In most cases 1-2 days, Longer if it was done on the weekend and even longer if it was done by Snail Mail."

The ransom was paid 2 business days ago and now long time forum members are bulling me for asking questions about my profile access by saying they are a volunteer organization. Then they should not lock a user profile and demand payment for access.

They should alert new users to the fact they will take away the access to edit your profile if you do not pay yearly dues on a public forum. Anyone can have access to my profile, but I cannot edit it.
