Drain

99 TJ where are the drains in the floor.
Got rained on hard for 20 mins with no windows or door tops.
I found the ones under the front floor mats, any more?

Jerry Bransford 04-22-2008 04:20 PM

That's it, one drain per side in the front footwells. :)

Smeghead 04-22-2008 04:23 PM

Thanks

Maybe in later TJs (not even sure of that) but not in early TJs. I tried to drain the back of my '97 once and the lack of drains back there definitely made it a PITA. :)

Smeghead 04-22-2008 05:02 PM

Indeed it does!
Thats the last time I leave home without my door tops and windows, but I was going to a dodgy part of town to the GD unemployment place and didnt want to leave them where they could be stolen.

i cant imagine my heep getting rained on, since it my DD.. im not talking bout sprinkles.. but I am glad it could recover from it... heck I would rinoline it if it is not my DD.. or even do extreme crawling.. ahahahha we'll see what happens in 5 years when its payed off..:P

I don't know about earlier models, but my 04 has drain holes under the rear floor mats. I had to drain it after the same situation. That is why I removed the rear carpet and the wheel hump carpets.

Yup, there are 6 drain plugs in my 99. Two in the floorboards, two behind the seats and two in the bed.

Jerry Bransford 04-22-2008 06:56 PM

Are those fitted with actual rubber drain plugs Jack? If so, having six drains must be sweet!

They were at one point in time. :D I just recently took the rear ones out of the tub to run my fuel lines up there when I relocated my tank. Only reason I knew they were there. :D I had never lifted the carpet before I actually took it out. :D

Smeghead 04-23-2008 05:24 PM

Seems I only have the front ones, makes emptying the back difficult

ct-tj 04-23-2008 09:06 PM

rhino line it and drill some holes. I have an 02 with plugs in the back, got real wet. The rear didnt drain completely, = 3/8 hole at the termination of the low spots. That and the lining, never had a problem again.

Rear wheels, curb, solved... :D :D :D Me, I have a couple of 6x6 railroad ties left over from a retaining wall, they come in handy when I need an extra 5" or so or want to get it either nose up or nose down. They also come in real handy when we have those $#$#$#$ street racers running around, portable speed bumps.

Triple88a 04-24-2008 09:49 AM

one of these for ya and couple rubber grommets will be nice :)

I have a 99 and mine doesn't have rubber plugs for those two.

Smeghead 04-24-2008 03:14 PM

I might drill into the back foot wells but that sounds scarey.
Last time I tried some drilling I broke 5 drills bits and hardly made a dent the bolt i was trying to drill out ( the one holding the front door hindge strap holder to the door)

x2. All factory, with rubber grommets :) I almost want to say there are 4 in the bed, but I could be wrong. Its been since the end of last summer since I have opened them up.

A Glock .45 will give you all the drain holes you need.

Sure, but if you use a 10Ga slug the factory plugs will fit...:p:p

The floor in a jeep easy to drill, just make sure you know where you're drilling so you dont end up IN the tcase lol

ct-tj 04-25-2008 08:08 PM

I just checked, theres 4 in the bed of an 02, that makes 8 factory holes with plugs and a few 6 or 8 3/8 holes for good measure.

tobycat1 04-25-2008 08:24 PM

99 TJ 2 front. 2 rear. i think 4 in the bed
