Dana 35 Pinion Nut?

Need your help. Need to replace the pinion yoke and seal on my dana 35. Does anyone know what size deep socket i need to remove the pinion nut?
Thanks

Don't remember size but pinion nuts are a 1 time use item.

Why is that? It's a locking nut, it will be fine to reuse, especially if you are replacing a pinion seal.

I've ben told that and it's on a few gear web sites. Don't know exactly why.

ya I wouldn't worry about it but it's one of those things that isn't that big of a deal.

its a 1 1/8"

its fine to reuse the nut.

get an impact wrench or a big breaker bar, its gonna be snug

it is recommended to replace the nut, the theory is it will lock down only once, and can vibrate and lose torque over time. i've seen a couple out of a great many, come back a little loose, and caused damage to pinion bearing. i always use a little blue thread locker and reuse the nut, and never have a problem

Thanks guys. It's not the first time i have changed it, and i have reused the nut before and have had no problems. Just can't find that socket but now i can pick one up. Thanks again.:punk:
